Hey everyone,

New Trailhunter owner here đź‘‹!

I am exploring ways to make the most of the built-in 120V/2400W power outlet (especially for camping and overlanding).

I’d love to hear from folks who have actually used it in real-world scenarios:
  • What kind of gear are you running? (Fridge, induction cooktop, coffee maker, power tools?)
  • Any issues with overloading or tripping the inverter?
  • Do you leave the engine running while using high-draw devices?
  • Any tips for safely operating devices or managing power while camping?
Also curious if anyone's had battery issues or figured out creative ways to extend usage time. Any do’s and don'ts would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like while driving you cannot get 2400w output, but portable refrigerators should work as they require under 100w

I didn’t spend a lot of time, but the last time I tested, I think the car had to be running in order for the cargo area inverter to work. I had planned to transition to an induction cooktop while camping, but not if I have to have the engine running to use it, even if it’s for a short time until the hybrid battery kicks in. I don’t want to be cooking with exhaust fumes surrounding me.

My last trip, I had my fridge connected to my EcoFlow and would charge the EcoFlow with the inverter when I remembered to turn on the outlet. That’s another gripe, the outlet setting doesn’t stick, so it shuts off each time you turn the vehicle off.

Yeah, I have my EcoFlow set to pull 1400w, and it does it all day w no problem, and I run everything off of that. I've used an air fryer on the car plugs without issue, but it was just for like 5min. I want to use it for cooking, but your car has to be on for it, so you're cooking in the exhuast

Same here. I use the 2400w Inverter to charge my Ecoflow (which i put behind the passenger seat and charge it from the center console plug). From there, I just run/charge everything directly off the Ecoflow. My Dometic fridge will run comfortably for 3 straight days off the Ecoflow, so it's a great way to go.

I'm using the Ecoflow Delta 3 Plus which is on sale right now and has 1024kWh of capacity.

My only complaint about the Toyota 2400w Inverter is the noise! It's located under the center console, and anytime I'm drawing more than about 500w for a sustained period, the fan noise starts to ramp up. See my related post/video about that here:

Interesting! I always thought that was the fans on the EcoFlow! The Delta 2 with 1024wh is also on sale right now for $500

My bluetti plugs into the AC and everything else plugs into the Bluetti. I cook on induction and boil water w/ an electric kettle. Works beautifully. Also runs my Iceco.

I don't stay in one spot long so the bluetti charges w/ plenty of time. I've never actually checked on the watts going in, i will tomorrow.

I have figured out it's best to use the AC outlet to charge my lithium portable battery bank rather than use the outlet for anything while camping since the engine needs to be running. This has worked out really well, I've gotten rid of all the propane cooking devices and use induction cooking. It charges up the battery Bank extremely well.

How did you set that to 1400w? I'm a newbie to Ecoflow and got an Ecoflow Delta Pro but don't see where I can do any kind of adjustments.

In the app, select your device, then select settings (the gear icon), and in the Input section I can change the AC Charging input

Thanks for all the info here, it confirms my idea of just running things off the Jakaroo and charging it while driving. Since the engine runs for the power to be useful.

Has anyone been able to get the EcoFlow app to work in car play? It’s car play enabled but last month when I tried it wouldn’t display any devices. In contrast, the working ICECO app is handy to make sure the fridge is running and at the right temp and displaying that on the 14” screen vs having to get my phone out is great.

They say the app for CarPlay/AA only works w the 500/800w inverters right now, and they're working on getting the rest of their lineup to work with it

I was running a Dometic fridge on my last trip and constantly having to remember to turn on the 120V anytime I turned off the truck and then back on (like after getting gas) was driving me nuts. Just so easy to forget. I get that they don't want people running it all the time and forgetting it's on, but it seems like a simple message on the dash or a flashing light would do the trick.

Yes! I'd really like to find a switch trick device similar to what people do w/ auto start stop switches. Turn it on automatically when the car turns on.
