  1. What did you do to your 6th Gen 4Runner today?? 👨🏻‍🔧 🧰 🛠

Removed my factory cross bars. New Thule bars incoming!
  2. Remove Cross Bars on 6th Gen -- How-to? Issues?

This may have been true on the 5th gen, but having just removed the rails on my 6th gen, I can tell you the process is much easier. The crossbars themselves have a cap that pops off. The plastic trim tool, allen wrench, and diagram were all included in my glove box. Use the trim tool to easily...
  3. Hybrid 4Runner towing & MPG report- 2000 lbs squaredrop trailer

I'm averaging about 12.5mpg towing a 4000 lb camper, with highway speeds around 55-70mph. I try hard to not go over 70mph when towing for a whole bunch of safety reasons.
  4. Real-world use of 4Runner’s 2400W Inverter Power Outlet: gear, tips & cautions

My understanding is that when the light is off, it will run the AC on "low" to help with cooling, but you need to push the button and get the light on for it to run on full strength.
  5. Towing in my 6th gen (16' foot Airstream trailer). What's your tow experience been?

Personally, I'm not using any extended mirrors towing a 4k pound 16.5 ft trailer. My trailer does have a camera on the back though, and a little monitor for that which attaches to the windshield in my 4runner.
  6. Real-world use of 4Runner’s 2400W Inverter Power Outlet: gear, tips & cautions

Same thing for the air conditioning. Not sure why I have to turn it back on every time if it was on when I turned the car off.
  7. Real-world use of 4Runner’s 2400W Inverter Power Outlet: gear, tips & cautions

I was running a Dometic fridge on my last trip and constantly having to remember to turn on the 120V anytime I turned off the truck and then back on (like after getting gas) was driving me nuts. Just so easy to forget. I get that they don't want people running it all the time and forgetting it's...
  8. Towing in my 6th gen (16' foot Airstream trailer). What's your tow experience been?

Just a quick update to say that I just finished another trip, so I'm almost at 5000 miles towing so far. Honestly, this thing is a fantastic tow vehicle for me and a significant improvement over my 5th gen. There are a few quirky things (like the straight path assist occasionally not able to...
  9. Aftermarket cross bars for 2025 4runner 6th gen?

Awesome. I've always liked and used Thule products and have been eyeing those up.
  10. Aftermarket cross bars for 2025 4runner 6th gen?

This looks pretty nice. Are those the Thule Evo Wingbars as well? The two complaints I see listed on the reviews are whistling noise and the rubber strips across the top coming loose. Have you expereienced any of that? This looks great. The two complaints I see often on the reviews are...
  11. TRD Pro Grille & Wheels installed - updated pics (on TRD Sport)

That's a legit job. Would've made a great YouTube instructional video. The truck looks great.
  12. Mysterious drain tube

Yup, I see it on mine all the time. I keep mine in my driveway so it's not an issue for me, but if I kept it in a garage I'd be pretty frustrated.
  13. Selling my factory cross bars

If anybody is looking for the black factory crossbars, I have a new set to sell. They've been on my 4runner for about 5k miles, but I have never had them loaded. I think they are a $420 factory add-on. I'm asking $250. Southeastern PA.
  14. Trailer Backup Assist - Pretty Neat

The straight path assist is fantastic. just get the trailer pointed in the direction you want it to go, hit the button, take your hands off the wheel, and watch it do it's thing. Whether it's a camper and a back-in camp site that you have pull past and then back into on an angle, or a boat going...
  15. 6th gen vs 5th gen: My Perspective

I would say the 6th gen is a similar experience for towing that weight. You put it in S5 and can still expect 3000 RPM's and a fairly loud engine at cruising speed. Source: Towed over 1000 miles so far in my 6th gen with a 4000lb trailer, and towed countless miles with my 5th gen. *My 6th gen is...
  16. Towing in my 6th gen (16' foot Airstream trailer). What's your tow experience been?

Just make sure to go through the setup steps before you actually try to use SPA. Basically you just need to move it around in an empty space for a a minute or two and follow the directions on screen. Just make sure to do that before you attempt to back your boat in or it won't work.
  17. Towing in my 6th gen (16' foot Airstream trailer). What's your tow experience been?

Correct, Non-hybrid. And yes, Im using an Equalizer weight distribution hitch.
  18. Towing in my 6th gen (16' foot Airstream trailer). What's your tow experience been?

So far I have towed my 16 foot Airstream (approximately 4000 pounds) around 1600 miles or so with my 6th gen off road premium. For comparison purposes, my previous vehicle was a 5th gen TRD Pro which I had for 9 years. The additional power at the lower RPM's has been great, and the tow tech...
  19. Car seat fit issue and ride quality bad

Just jumping in to mention I have car seats in the back seat and have taken multiple long road trips with the kids in the back. Zero complaints from them. Also, the overall ride quality is totally fine for me and my family. We had a 2016 TRD Pro until we got this one and the difference is...
