Radiator louvers on a 2025 Limited 4Runner

While installing an illuminated front logo I noticed there were 2 sets of plastic louvers in front of the radiator (4 on each side). Does anyone know if the louvers open and close and if so what controls the activation. During installation the louvers were in the open position. I can only imagine that they would close during extreme cold conditions.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes those plastic louvers (often called active grille shutters or radiator shutters) on your 2025 Toyota 4Runner are indeed active—they open and close automatically..

those louvers are very common on vehicles that have turbo chargers , has something to do with keeping the inter-cooler at a regulated temperature they open and close with temperature
