Has anyone used a Pakmule Pro cargo carrier or Pakmule Scout? Would you recommend purchasing one or do you have other cargo carrier recommendations?

Pros:
High quality construction: made in USA from fully welded aluminum
Lightweight (42 lbs) yet holds 650 lbs

Cons:
High Price compared to steel alternatives

Ouch...expensive indeed. I have no experience with the Pakmule, but I have the steel one from Harbor Freight that has worked very well. They have aluminum options as well. They are obviously not made in the US, but also cost $60-120. I would sure not mind paying more for one made in the US (or Canada), but $800+ seems a bit much (like a lot much!).

I have the OG Pakmule that I bought 4-5 years ago and love it. I only use it 1-2 times a year but haven’t thought about the cost once after using. The anti-wobble system they have works great and you don’t know it’s there. I haven’t tried yet on the 6th gen but eyeballing it, it looks like their locking hitch pin will fit. The only other concern with fitment on this platform was brought up in the bike rack forum where they talked about how close the hole for the hitch pin isn’t very deep and whether that creates issues. It’s raining now, but if you’d like I will try and test it out this week.

Just bought one!
Picked it up from PakMule HQ in New Braunfels, TX.

Yes- agree that they are spendy, but I wanted a dual purpose utility rack and something to also carry a few mountain bikes without having to buy multiple racks.

I’m loving it. My kid is on spring break this week and we’ve been toting around our two bikes and some gear with it the last few days.

Well built and versatile in my opinion.

I went with the Scout w/4” riser.

Tested out that one and the straight tongue while at their HQ. The straight is good, and you’ve got added weight capacity with it, but little to no room between the rear gate and the rack.

The riser versions allow additional space and it works out nicely to still access the back of the 4R.
