Alright 4Runner6G fam, I could use some real-world advice 🙏

I’m officially starting my rock slider search and figured this group would be the best place to ask before pulling the trigger.

This is my daily driver, but I do plan on getting it out on actual trails — not hardcore rock crawling every weekend, but enough that real protection matters. I’m trying to strike a balance between strength, clearance, and practicality, while still keeping the rig clean-looking.

I’ve seen a ton of options out there, and it’s honestly hard to tell what’s marketing vs what actually holds up long term.

A few things I’m curious about:

  • What brand sliders are you running and how have they held up?
  • Bolt-on vs weld-on — any regrets either way?
  • Any issues with ground clearance, rust, rattling, or install?
  • Would you buy the same sliders again or go a different route?

If you’ve got pics, even better 👀🔥

Appreciate any insight — hoping this helps others too 🤙

I think your first decision is steel or aluminum. Steel stronger for rougher stuff, aluminum still capable but not as strong. Aluminum won’t rust like steel. Next decision is whether you want an integrated step or just the slider.
I went with Greenlane aluminum with step and love them. Great fit. No clearance impact for what I do. And I like the look (especially with the kick out).
They are bolt on and holes were perfectly aligned. Only thing to manage (and this is not specific to a brand of a slider) was Toyota hadn’t threaded all the holes on the frame (at least early on with the ORPs).
