I know this is going to be a difficult one to diagnose or even describe to a dealer service department. When driving, taking a bend in the road, say at 30MPG, I hear one knock or tap from the interior front area. I wear hearing aids so identifying the exact area is difficult for me. My wife thinks it's from the inside the headliner in the center area.

The noise sound like an object sliding in the glovebox and tapping on the sides. I have cleared out everything, noting in the center console, glovebox, door pockets, etc. I am minimalistic in what I keep in the car anyways.

When I hear the knock noise, I try to turn the opposite direction and turn again to replicate the noise. I have not been able to make it happen. Today, I heard a knock while sitting at a traffic like and not moving. This go me thinking that it might be a relay or some actuator in the AC system. Most of the time, I only hear it when moving.

If anyone has any ideas or experience similar, please let me know. I don't think I have enough information for a dealer to even attempt a repair.

Thanks in advance.....

I experienced a noise sound very similar to the one you described, and it took a while to figure out and it turned out to be my sunglasses sliding back and forth in the overhead bin.

Thanks for that. I did check a few days ago, not only sunglasses but the enclosure. It was not loose and I don’t keep my glasses in there yet.

I had the same noise in a ORP. Turned out to be the tire lock in the glove box

Will check the glove box again. I noticed the roof liner, around the switch panel and glasses holder, when pressed makes a similar knock pr popping noise. Will focus on that too. Seems after I start up when the car has been in the sun, I put the AC on and 5 mins after, I here the pop/knock. I don't think its related to left/right movement.

The glassed holder also seems like it might make a noise on its own. Also, the visor mirror covers, when closed, they have play in them.

I know I am clutching at strays here but its annoying. Maybe I should have got a lexus?

The sun visor has the potential to cause the noise. The mirror door when closed and the slide out extender. Even the visor retainer, when pushed in is loose and can give a plastic on plastic noise. The headliner when presses gives all sorts of noise.

Not exactly a Lexus!
