Oh that's fantastic...
I was told by my tech at 1000 miles that every one did it and did not explain what it may have been. I'm now at 12,000 and I will need to bring it in and press them on it. Doubt I'll be offered anything.

If it is bad electrical or shielding on Toyota's end, I will have to push for them to fix it.

"They all do it." Our dealer said the same thing about noisy wiper motors.

My mind is blown that some 4runners do this and some dont. Kind of like how some have threaded frame holes and some dont lol. I got unlucky in both of those departments with my 2026 trd off road. I am going to take mine to the dealer at some point but I have very little faith they will do anything.

Hey there, just found this thread after experiencing the same issue in my 2026 off road. I took it to the dealership and they said it is the wastegate and that it is normal. They compared it to another vehicle and it made the same noise apparently. However I feel like for me at least it is a relatively new thing. Mine has almost 4k miles on it, and I never noticed it when I got the car. I can hear the noise in the cabin with the windows up but it is definitely more pronounced with the windows down. A "cicada in the engine bay" is a great way of describing it, super annoying. Not sure what to do from here, might take it to a different dealer and see if they say anything different.

Yea good luck man. I just parted with it and made peace with that.

Today i put the car in neutral, turned on the parking brake and gave it some light throttle. Interestingly i could not get it to make the buzzing noise. Has anybody else tried this? That would mean it is related to the transmission not the throttle body or fuel injectors as theorized?

I almost feel like the cicada sound is getting worse now that it is very hot outside. I can hear it windows up. It used to it was drowned out/dissapeared at a certain speed or higher rpm but now I can hear it all the time. Not at idle but as soon as the throttle is past 5%. Maybe I am just tuned into the noise more.
