For me it depends on what I’m doing, as I suspect is the case with others. Ramps for fluid changes, jacks for working on suspension etc.Ramps or floor Jack+jack stands?
Curious what everyone here is using and what feels the safest.
nothing wrong with plastic ramps whatsoever, as longI'm worried the plastic the ramps won't hold.
what skid plate is this? llooks greatGot a floor jack and jack stands soon after buying the truck. Don't have suitable ramps. Have had it up and down many times doing tire swaps and other things. Jack stands are not quite tall enough for the bigger tires (285/70R18) to be removed and replaced with downward travel of suspension so I lift the extra inch or so with floor jack and don't let anyone under in that circumstance.

Per comment above, no need to lift to install skids but I wanted the bit of extra space when installing the transmission skid. The front skid is easy to remove and replace without lifting (e.g., for oil change).
Floor jack has gotten a lot of use as I have swapped wheels and tires multiple times - and plan to continue to swap now that I've settled in on essentially a set for long distance travel (OEM tires on TRD PRO wheels) and a set for winter weather/off-road driving (285/70 Toyo ATIIIs on TRD flat black option wheels).
I've got the CaliRaised step edition rock sliders coming in a week or two and wondering if it makes any sense to lift one side of the vehicle and put it on jack stands front and back to provide more access for the install. I know its not necessary because I've removed and reinstalled the running boards without lifting and know there is space. But am wondering if its safe to lift the vehicle on one side and hold it with jack stands. I expect to use the floor jack to hold the sliders up while I make the attachments.
Figured this was as good a thread to ask about lifting one side as any. Thanks for any insights.
I've got the Land Cruiser front skid (essentially the same as Trailhunter except TOYOTA embossed instead of TRAILHUNTER). The transmission skid is the same for THunter and LC - and works with the Hybrid 4R trims. Vendor mistakenly sent me both front skids so I have this shot comparing them:what skid plate is this? llooks great
