I’d be curious to know if Eco vs Normal mode yields much of a gain?
on our 23 tundra, eco was actually worse mpg per tank overall vs normal or sport. at least from my observations tracking each tank via fuelly

in city driving, forgot to add that since the wife daily drives her tundra. rarely go above 40 mph in the city and she drives city 95% of the time.

on my 14 4R, i drive 90% highway @ 75 to/from work 15 miles 1-way mon-thurs (parked thus night to mon morning)

i get avg of 16.7 over 416 fill ups on the 4R

the wife gets avg of 12.6 over 85 fill ups on the tundra

edit : forgot to add, we only use 87 octane on the 14R and the 23 tundra.

The first few tanks (3) of gas noted a ~332 mile range. Now, my range reads ~356. Odo reads ~2,150.
Other things to note, strictly 91 octane and only normal driving mode.
Does the higher octane really make that much of a difference in fuel economy? I've always understood that a higher octane will not have any affect on mpg. Sounds like the hybrid is a boost in fuel economy on the low speed driving and idling. I personally would never want to waste money on more expensive fuel when it's designed for 87. One reason why the LC was out of the question for my use.

from what i read, octane mostly helps with pre-detonation. on gas only engines, not much of an issue, on turbo's it makes more of a difference having higher octane

Non-hybrid: I’m averaging around 20-21mpg after 1900 miles on my ORP. Mixture of city, highway and mountain gravel forest service roads. It helped to reset it after the first 1000 mile break in. Now the computer reads fairly accurate to my math calculations at the pump.

I have noticed that if you’re just idling, it starts to drop fast. Hard to imagine it’s really that fuel thirsty when idling.
Idling calculates out to Zero MPG so, it can have a dramatic impact to your overall MPG.

When I first got the truck and was sitting in my driveway programing all the settings... I was just watching it drop. Drastic. If only they had a better algorithm to accurately account for idling. On those early tanks, my at the pump math was showing a significantly higher mpg than the dash readout as a result of all the idling.

Sometimes my baby falls asleep in the car so I end up idling at a park or playground while the other kids play with my wife. Or we switch off... but idling only dropped my mpg by 1 mpg when we were out there for almost an hour.

Maybe bc I have it set to tank average and we were closer to half or quarter tank left?

That's not on the ORP either. I believe it's only on the Limited.
Drove an OR Hybrid last week and it has the start/stop stuff. Actually was very smooth and didn't notice the engine was stopping till about halfway through the test drive

thats why its better to calc the mpg yourself the old fashion way.

we remote start and idle a lot in ND winters. the mpg reading in the MID screen is always off compared to using our a-car app (fuelly)

That’s how all hybrids work
Drove a Tacoma ORP and didn't notice the engine stopping. There are some threads on which models have it and which don't along with the spec sheet on Toyota site. That all said still seems to be some confusion on which actually do and which don't.

I am at around ~700miles since I bought mine.

I drive like a grandpa in Eco mode.

Currently I am averaging 19.2mpg (city only) and I think I can bring this up to like 20 mpg if I tried.
I compared the eco mode and normal mode. ECO mode is not fuel-efficient and the acceleration response is also slow. In normal mode, I drove 700 miles in the local area and the current average fuel consumption is 21.5-21.8

Curious how sport mode would fare... I know the transmission is 1 gear lower so the RPMs are slightly higher but if you're coasting then it doesn't use much gas anyways. You may just have the benefit of the turbos spinning up sooner

Interesting the Toyota site also shows no start stop on the OR but it was definitely on the one I drove
