Gen6 4Runner towing capacity is awesome! Towed 5700lb boat in 95°+ for 40 miles today

All the naysayers out there who think that new new 6th Gen is a wimp with it's 4 cylinder engine can kick rocks, as far as I'm concerned.

Out of necessity (not going into details) I had to haul our 5700lb boat in the 95°+ temperature for about 40 miles today. There were big hills (both up/down) too.

I was nervous because I hadn't done more than a trip to get gas with the boat before. My girl did AMAZING, and did not show any signs of overheating, stress, no shaking when I had to break... nada. She was calm and cool as a cucumber.

This little lady kicks @$$ and all the boo-hoo-ers out there can eat my dust.

Looks and sounds great. I just got delivery om my new TRD OFP. Can't wait to tow my boat this coming Sunday. It is about 5000 lbs. so I guess it should be a breeze.

Avoid towing with less than 500 miles on your 4Runner.

Absolutely not! I have already about 450 miles on it and will drive more this week. Also I usually change the first oil on a new car at about 1k. Will do that on Saturday and will tow my boat on Sunday. Not a long distance. About 35 miles…

As I recall the manual says no serious towing until 1000 miles.

I pulled a small trailer (4x8 with ~2' frame and expanded metal sides) about 800 miles last week, empty one way and loaded, but without much. on the way back. Effortless.
