Gauge Cluster Plastic Screen / Window / Lens Replacement

Anyone replaced the gauge cluster lens yet?
I was installing screenprotech, messed that up by not having the spray solution and using my own mix of water and soap…left glue residue behind and attempted to remove it with Goof Off…yes now I know not to use Goof off on plastic.
Looking for removal and install guide, the part is cheap.

I havent attempted it myself but I have looked at the parts diagram. Its a lot more difficult than previous generations. You have to remove all the surrounding trim and the radio from I remember to get access to that cluster. Just be careful and go slow.

I don’t like screen protech. Never seems to go on well. Good luck.

I'd tape if off and give it a try with a dremel and buffing compound.

That wont work. It is really cheap plastic. I have used novus and meguiars on that plastic and it definitely improves it but it also dulls it as it’s essentially removing some of the material to smooth it out.

Trust me, I went through the same thought process. You have to remove an unbelievable amount of shit to get to that lens. I have the service manual and it is a complete bear, the fucking center compartment (where you rest your arm) has to completely come out with a shit ton of dash trim pieces. It’s a 5 hour job quoted by the dealership. Get a screen protector and call it a day.

It doesn’t take that long. 3 hours tops going slow and I have no idea why he said you have to remove the center console. That has nothing to do with that gauge plastic. Those pieces aren’t connected in anyway. I have removed that center console. I have removed the radio and the climate module as well so I am pretty familiar with it. Shit comes out easy. You have to remove the side pieces to the left of the steering wheel, then the side pieces to the right by first undoing the radio. Then you work around the steering wheel. Use plastic trim tools and stick painters tape in between the plastic to prevent any possible marring. It’s doable just annoying.

You are correct, it’s not the arm rest it’s the assembly around the shifter, #2 “console box assembly” is required for removal. Here is also the quote from Toyota to do the replacement.

I am not disputing your diagram. I am however saying that I have removed these parts myself. I have also have had service diagrams add on steps that are unnecessary. Anyone who has actually taken a part their interior knows that.

However, I do have an SR5 but from when I pulled everything a part before, it was the radio that was obstructing the piece that needed to be removed to get to the gauge cluster. If the climate module is causing an issue with the lower panel, then yeah maybe the console needs to be removed. But there is a small gap between the climate control and the lower console so I wonder if that could be pulled out without removing it.

Someone should try it and let us know. First hand experience is better.

Sooo...Where does one acquire this (for a decent amount anyway)?

Or...Could you send me the wiring diagram for the harness going to and/or the pinout for, the Trailhunter light bar? I have the light bar, the grills, the factory connector to the light bar...But it's a 10 pin, and I don't know what pin does what yet

I put a screen protector on my gauge cluster (Screen Protech as well) and it was way easier than I thought.

Why put one here? No I don’t touch my gauge cluster either, but it does get dust on it. And I didn’t want to scratch the cheap lens when getting the dust off. Now I don’t have to worry about that. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to replace the screen protector as I can’t find the edges, but it’ll surely hold up to scratches better than I’ve heard the plastic does.
