Has anyone had any issue with not receiving a full size spare tire? I was just informed by my dealer rep that I have a space saver spare tire. I ran over a small bolt that punctured my tire on the shoulder edge tread which can’t be repaired. My Limited came with Dunlop tires which are 7-10 days out so they were going to put my spare on till the new tire gets here. Then they found the space saver in the tire well. I confirmed on Toyota’s site that my Limited- as well as several other trim levels- are equipped with a “Full size spare tire mounted under body”. I couldn’t find anything about a change in specs for spare tires so I put in a call to my selling dealer rep to see what she says.

I don’t think certain models get it. I know the Pro and TrailHunter does for sure. I’m gonna assume the SR5 doesn’t,

My limited (and others on the lot) had a 245/75/17 convenience spare on a steel rim underneath. Toyota definitely chooses words carefully - it is "full size" in the sense that it's the same outer diameter as the stock 265/55/20 tires, but it's still a convenience spare you wouldn't use for more than a short time.

Con confirm my Trailhunter came with a full size spare mounted underneath. It's the same bronze wheel as the rest.

So I assume that if you buy a new full size tire (and rim) with the same size as the others then it will still fit underneath?

Yep, should fit just fine. There are number of posts on here where people have done that with bigger AT tires.

ORP here, when I got my last service I was told that they couldn't rotate in my spare tire because it had a different (presumably cheaper) wheel, but the tire itself was supposed to be full size.

I really need to crawl under the vehicle and take a look to confirm for myself. I was very surprised to learn my ORP didn't have a matching full size spare, and still don't 100% believe them...

It is sneaky semantics. My Ltd has a full size spare, but not a full time spare.
I looked at the specs on the unit I bought and they are claiming a temporary spare, it's full size though.
