Fender Flare separation / gap issue (TRD Off-Road Premium)

Never have been a fender flare fan. Has anyone here removed a fender flare on a '25 to see what the body looks like underneath it? If so, is it a smooth appearance that would look fine without having flares? Maybe the factory wheels/tires would stick out too far from the body without the flares, and look weird? Does anyone know? I had a '94 without fender flares, and the tires stuck out from the body about 3/4 of an inch. Looked great! Would like to get that same look again, if possible. the problem with new vehicles is that the fender flares are tied into the wheel well protection liner to hold them in place. i think you could remove them but you have to put the clips back in to keep the liners in place.

i dont think toyota puts holes in the outward facing body panels anymore like the old days. the main mount pont is usually the lip facing the tire but since the flare is so big the tops of them seperate if the double sided tape doesnt cure correctly so it seperates from the body as seen in trd jon video

Thanks for the details, im going to the dealership next week to have them look at it…… I would normally do myself but want it documented in case it becomes an issue for more people; i saw trd Jon’s video and agree. I’ll update her post when I hear back from Toyota.

I have the same minor separation in the front fender flares. Not major enough to be of concern for me but it is there.

Update: 24 Feb - bringing it to dealer next week so they can take photos/video and send to Toyota for direction. Update 5 March, today dealer took photos and sent Dealer Product Report (DPR) to Toyota, will wait for their reply and update.

I noticed it on my new SR5 when purchasing - I made them note it on the warranty info card condition form when I signed for vehicle, they said they’d look into it with Toyota.

The dealership agreed the gap was not acceptable, they took photos and sent to Toyota corporate for a determination…. That was on 5 March… will update the thread when I hear back.

Perhaps mine is extreme, but it can’t hurt to get it documented with your dealership, the more it’s brought to Toyotas attention, the more likely they’ll address it for future 4Runner owners.

Mine is very similar to this, only front two. It's not a major issue but definitely should be addressed by Toyota for a brand new vehicle

(if you have this same gaps, please report to your dealership, Toyota will only address if reported)

Check your front air dam. Ours broke off on both sides earlier today at freeway speeds
