I have had this issue on my Tacomas and now on my new 4Runner. Whenever the window is cracked and you go over even minor bumps the window rattles like crazy and is super annoying. Just went down and tried to find a fix. This fix is similar to what we did on the Tacos.

Here is the fix I have come up with. This is similar to what we did on the Tacomas.

1) Pull off the small triangular trim piece on the interior front corner of the window. It’s held on with plastic clips and you can just pull it off by hand.

2) Put you finger or something in the gap between the metal and the rubber trim that the window slides against so you know where it is. This is where we need to add some padding to push the rubber out a bit more which in turn puts more pressure on the window.

3) Stuff something in that gap the whole length of it, or most of it. I just temporarily stuffed a napkin in there. It’s trial and error as far as how much you need, but I would say it needs to be about 1/4 inch thick. I am going to find some foam to replace the napkin with so it’s more permanent. There is a hole in the metal that I think one of the plastic clips goes into, you will see it. Try not to block that otherwise the cover might not go back on.

4) Pop the plastic trim piece back on and you are good to go.

Drove it around the block a few times and no more rattle.

You can also peel back the trim on the rearward part of the window and stuff some foam in there as well

I did notice that too. It's been so hot that I have barely drove with windows cracked.
Thanks for sharing this info and it's totally worth the inspection.
I figure a peel and stick foam weatherstrip might work?

I just got some high density foam off amazon. doesn't need to be peel and stick, it will stay in place

Thanks for this tip, worked great and only took 2 minutes to put some foam in there.
