Driver Side Window Rattle & Fix (From Speaker Bass) - Fixed With Foam Insulation

Oh, I showed them the video alright… 2 dealers saw it. I screen recorded it and then texted it to them. I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal for them to just do it. I suppose I could, I just don’t have foam or know what to even use.

C/G here, I posted the original video... Did you involve the Sales Manger & Service Department Mgr? Those guys don't always work (well) together. I started with the Sales Mgr then went to the Service Dept Mgr, demo'd the issue with whatever music is causing the issue and they agreed to fix it no problem.

Funny enough, once the temps here dipped below 60s, I haven't had any issue with the rattle. Gotta wait till spring or next summer to get this fixed in order to replicate it!

Wanted to add my experience with this issue. My passenger side front window/door would rattle only under certain conditions- primarily if the road was slightly uneven (see video). When pressure was placed on the door or window, the sound would stop. I walked through the steps of taking off the door panel (4x), driving around, and attempting to isolate it without luck. I took it to a local dealership. Some initial issues investigating it (bad tech) and a new service advisor who said I might have to live with it because they could reproduce the issue, but it wasn't reliably reproducible. Escalated the issue with the service manager on duty and said that's BS, we'll handle it. Turned out to be a spot-weld issue in the door. Fixed, no more rattle.

For those still wondering where to put the foam. The two bolts outlined are connected to a bracket inside the door. Unscrew the bolts, there aren’t any nuts to worry about falling in the door, and on the inside of the door panel place a piece of foam between the bracket and the door panel. Then put the bolts back through the panel and foam connected to the bracket and voila, you’re finished. I went the extra step and shoved some foam between the rubber window track and the metal bracket that’s inside the door panel but hopefully the initial foam piece will work for most.

My dealer said it’s normal operation and that some cars rattle. I knew at that point I was working with an idiot and didn’t feel like fighting that battle so I opted to fix it myself. Happy I did, now I enjoy my daily drives.

Hi everyone, I made an account just to comment on this thread. I tried putting foam as mentioned by BlinkerFluid and the tech from Toyota. This worked for a few days but then the rattle came back. The Toyota tech mentioned that it’s not rattling at the bracket but higher up on the window run within the door. So I went back and pulled the door apart to investigate what the actual cause of the door rattle is and I found it and was able to fix it that even at full volume it is gone!!

So I stuck my hand up there and the window run has a bracket that slides into another bracket attached to the door. Where these two pieces meet it is metal on metal which is loose. I was able to wiggle it with my hand to create metal on metal click. So I pulled to whole widow run bracket out and added some sound insolation to it especially by the bracket so that when it contacts the bracket within the door it no longer made the metal on metal click noise when wiggling with my hand. This fixed it, I can even go to max volume with max base and there is no rattle!! I did this for my driver side door already but will be going it on my passenger door later this week. I will upload some photos and guide of what I did to fix the issue.
This took me a while to find but found it by turning the volume up and then listening to the door rattle from outside the car.
