For anyone wondering about catalytic converter theft and how easily stolen they might be, this is reassuring -- the location of the cats are tucked away and more hidden, making it harder for thieves to steal.

Thanks for the info. Love that it was done this way to prevent theft. I was told that they also have a cover for sale to slow down the thieves too. Curious to what that cover is.

its a byproduct of moving to a i4 engine vs the v6 engine.

most i4 engines have both tucked (not just the 4R or taco but most toyota i4 engines). the v6 the way the config was, they had no room to tuck them.

The Prius is/was one of the most common victims of catalytic converter theft. It has an I4 engine.

yeah i guess but thats due to mostly the 2000's model years

recent years they packed them closer to the engine (if i remember correctly), but then again prius is more battery than engine so less room to properly tuck them.
