What are you trying to accomplish? Are you looking to read codes or monitor real-time data? Somebody mentioned the BlueDriver and I have had one of those for several years and it's a great all-purpose tool. For the 4Runner you really can't go wrong with the Accessport because it provides all of the available data monitors plus an OBD scan tool.

I use Carista, used it on my Gen 5 as well as on my Hybrid Gen 6 and its never failed me.
