A quick 10 minute install of the ARK rear splash guards for rear fender wells. This protects the fuel lines that are exposed on the drivers side. It also helps keep mud and debris from getting between the body and frame.

I'll be installing the front crash bracket delete covers from Ark this weekend (TRD ORP rub with 285/70R18 tires) - but what is the purpose of the rear splash guards? Is it to prevent mud from working its way in to some opening in the wheel well? I'm guessing maybe it blocks that opening above the frame - is that right?

Found some pics before I put the new wheels and tires on...

It blocks this circled area and fills the gap between the body and the frame. The area that’s circled are hose that go to the fuel tank which will be protected once the splash guards are installed

They’re very heavy duty. The plastic nuts that are OEM holding on the inner fender liners are replaced with metal 10 mm bolts.

the big issue is snow build up behind the gaps between the bolts and angled parts and the snow packing in, melting then freezing again. from december-to march it never gets above freezing, and jan/feb we hit the negatives hard to the point we can hit -20F ambient during february

thats the issue i am concerned about.

i mean i have a wooden hammer handle i use to break up snow pack from the wheels during winter that makes my wheels out of balance.

northern tier snow people will understand :)

ps: i use that same handle to knock snow/hardened slush from the mud flaps, wheel wells and underside of the running boards before i park inside the garage :)

Thanks for the video. Helped a lot. I was able to reinstall the "inner" crash plate on top of the ARK crash plate delete - my rubbing was only with the "outer" one immediately behind the tires. Sadly for ARK the logo gets somewhat covered up:>) Does not fit perfectly (liner had to be folded back and gap between plate and body that I'm sure will gather some mud) but covers up some of the opening.

I started installing them on the 4runner this afternoon. During installation of the two rear sections it seemed like I was missing hardware. I know you start by pulling out the plastic OEM press-in clips over the threaded studs. Their video states you use their 10mm nuts to install over the threads and how the shields in place...but all that I had in the hardware bag was "Christmas tree" plugs and those expanding clips that have to go in a hole and then grip from behind. No 10mm nuts. I made the OEM clips work for now but need the to either send the missing parts or I'm visiting TSC soon.

I did see they experienced a weather-related emergency last week and expect they will be scrambling to deal with that for a few more weeks but am hopeful they see my message and can send out the missing hardware.
