Honestly, it seems like it would just rattle all the plastic in the car. Their reactions remind me of morning news reporters pretending to like the food when they do a cooking segment. They didn't talk that much about how good it "sounds" but rather how the loud it got and how it made the car vibrate. Weird video IMO.

Still waiting for the line level modular adapters to come out so I can pull out every speaker and add quality amplifiers and a sub. Focal speakers are what I'm aiming for, just as long as I get that JBL junk out of there and that pitiful subwoofer.
I have focals in my 75 bronco love them.

I know right. There's a company called OEM AUDIO PLUS, they have the best system upgrade but boy it's expensive. They haven't designed any for the 6th gen as yet.

I had them in my old Jeep Wrangler, rock crawling concert Hall. But it was a Jeep, The stereo outlasted the vehicle.
Not much space in the old bronco. Running wet sounds icon 8 pods swivel on bar. The focal 6.5 coax in middle with focal 5.25 and tweeter in door Ds 1200 amp . highway at 75 top off i could still enjoy my tunes.

To anyone interested, coupon code "aug10" works for 10% off on either the Alpine kit or Beatsonic... maybe even both together

I have a 6th gen, non-jbl. I installed the beat-sonic already
It seems to upgrade the volume more than the quality
What do you recommend as the next step?
Alpine speakers?
Focal?
Other?
Wait?

Typically the amp boosts signal strength which is how it gets better clarity and why it is also louder. Unfortunately you are still limited by speaker quality as to how good the clarity gets. The next step if it wasn't good enough for you, would definitely be speakers. Alpine speakers are definitely a big improvement, but focal speakers would be a couple steps up from them. Focal speakers are really good for high quality, detailed and accurate audio. But they are also typically more expensive than Alpine.

I upgraded the speakers in my last car with Alpines without an amp and they were very good, so unless you are an audiophile who wants the best audio possible, they should be more than enough.

I installed the beat sonic the first week of April in my pro! If you have not done it yet, it is absolutely worth it. Honestly it’s one of the five early upgrades imo they are , red line struts, beat sonic amp, ceramic Tint and flares if you don’t have them.last but not least lasfit or upgraded floor mats.
Link to Amp please.

I got this kit and it was super easy to install, especially thanks to the video that takes all the stress out of getting into the door panels.

One thing I don't like is the nuts & screws supplied for the dash speakers and the directions how they show installing them in the video.

1: The video shows installing the speakers below the bracket. I say this is wrong for at least 2 reasons. 1, the Alpine directions clearly show mounting the speaker on top of whatever surface it's mounted in. and 2, the speaker does not include a spacer gasket to fill the space between the flat surface and the raised lip around the outside perimeter. If you screw that down like that without something solid filling the space, you just bend the steet metal frame of the speaker out of shape.

2: The screws and nuts are just plain screw & nut with nothing to prevent shaking loose over time, and no washer to spread the load from the nut on thefragile acrylic. And you can't use thread locker because that stuff detroys most plastics. It would not risk letting it touch the acrylic or the dash for that matter. Even though it literally comes in a plastic tube, I once destroyed all the screw posts on a big interior car panel made of stuff that looks and feels just like most of the 4runner interior. The blue loctite made the soft black plastic just crumble and fall apart, It's hard to describe. it didn't melt, it changed from being similar to milk jug plastic, to being like crayon,

So I got some M3 screws, flat washers, and lock nuts at lowes. (just a bonus that the new screws are metric like the rest of the truck now) And installed the speaker resting on the top surface of the bracket like this.

I had the non-jbl. I did the beat-sonic + apline 8in. All in less than 3 hours of work. Huge improvement. Loud and clear sound

@bkw777
Good idea on the washers and lock nuts. I'll probably go back and add those.

How does it sound?
I can't comment on that meaningfully. It's louder but I don't know if it's better.

One thing I don't like is the dash speakers dominate more than I'd like, and are a bit harsher than Icd like. There's no way to adjust those seperately from the rest. So the only way to adjust the balance between those and the rest is to select the right ohms and watts vs the rest. Ie if you feed the same signal to both a 40w speaker and a 80w speaker, the 40w will be louder.

I also installed the smaller beatsonic amp at the same time (the one with no sub) I didn't change the gain setting on the amp. They are at the factory 50%. One of beatsonics videos about the amp does say that is probably the sweet spot for most people, not just an arbitrary default. But I didn't do any testing and tuning to find a perfect setting.

All in all, I thought the stock system actually sounded ok. So far I don't find the new system more pleasing to listen to.

But: I didn't do any tuning at all yet. I haven't even fiddled with high/mid/low in the head unit, and haven't tried to find the best gain setting on the amp. The factory default might be aimed at the stock speakers and maybe could benefit from some adjustment for the alpines.

It IS louder, and there does seem to be more and better sounding bass available, if other things are adjusted better. Even though the little dasg speakers are dominating, I can still tell that the door speakers are ready to give more and better than before.

The stock system was more balanced and nicer sounding, but not strong. I am not a bass hound like thumping house etc, but I like the low end to be available when called for without distorting. It's just a part of the fullness that needs to be there for the whole to be whole. So I think the new system might be able to be made to sound good, since I think the raw material is there, even if so far I don't like it very much after just plugging it in and nothing else yet.

So I intentionally didn't want to make any statements about the sound quality since I didn't take any careful "before" samples, and haven't tried to adjust the few little things we even can adjust.
