I fill my trucks only at Costco. At least when I am in town. Always have been consistent.

I feel the need to repost something I put in the the "Range and Tank Size" thread. And since its a similar topic, might be helpful for OP to search and see what is there. And in my repost below check out a link to another pertinent thread.
Check out this thread for more discussion (and my specific results for my ORP Hybrid with air dam on - except when off-roading): gas-gauge-and-low-gas-indicator-accurate
Also: The manual says explicitly that the Low fuel level warning light "Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.8 gal." For me, this is usually when the miles to empty is about 20-25 miles to go, depending on the MPGs for that tank so far. And since I'm getting (typically) ~21 mpg/tank, zero miles to go is at ~2 gallons remaining in tank - confirmed with data I've posted in that other thread.
It does seem like something is amiss with you putting so much fuel in when there ought to have been ~ 2 gallons (7.5 L?) left and yet you put in slightly MORE than the tank is supposed to hold.
I drove ~8-9 miles past the 0 miles DTE twice and both times the tank took ~17.2 gallons - just about what would be expected. I've got way too much data and evidence on this posted in those other threads. I KNOW that for me that info in the manual that I bolded above is spot on.

Bottom line: Yea, something is amiss. ESSO inaccurate pump or something else.

i ran mine to 'empty' , 0km left, and then drove another 25 km, and still could only fit 67L of gas in the tank, and it was up to the brim, fuller than full. that makes sense with the 2.8gal reserve noted above (if the low fuel rating comes on at 10L left, the math makes sense for my tank experience)

i can't figure out how you got 72L into it. i'll admit i have spilled gas more than once, not expecting the tank to be full already while pumping and looking at the pump volume/cost displays.

and finally, cause we are on the topic, i really wish it had an 80L tank so i could go at least another 100km on a tank...

trust me, we all do. its a shame they dropped the tank size from the 5th gen down to 19gal/72L

Well in that case, the fuel pump needs to be checked.
With how much of a shitshow Canada is right now, I am not suprised they are ripping customers off this way.
That wouldn't surprise me at all.

i can't figure out how you got 72L into it.
No clue. Very puzzling. As Nodak mentioned. I will be keeping a log for the next while.
Thanks everyone for your input.
