Last time we talked about road trips and found that everyone pays great attention to car maintenance, and pre-trip checks are an essential part of the process (checking tire pressure, rims, car battery, changing oil, etc.). But what regular vehicle conditions do you guys care about most, for safety reasons or personal hygiene needs?

Technically I put the rubber mats in and took out the cloth ones I use in summer. I always watch the tire pressure this time of year because when it gets cold the tires often need air.

From that specific list, I completed 3 items. I think the most important one comes down to tire pressure.

Since upgrading to a set of KO2s on the 4Runner, I’ve been playing around with finding the optimal pressure for on road performance.

I’ve always been told there’s about 4 hands worth of rubber keeping your car on the road and protecting your life. It’s a no brainier to me to meticulously maintain them.

I completed two items from the list this month. To me, the most important is cleaning off the floor mats (I got stock ones at the moment but really need some more coverage!). I love to go on drive at my lunch hour to walking trails and tracks tons of mud into the car.

Cleaned the salt and sand that spilled out from the crappy bags from Lowes lol. Not sure how a popularity contest for a post is going to work when everyone here is trying to win the same thing.

I have a box like that with the essentials for the road. Rain ponco, blanket, towels, jumper cables, air pump, plastic bags, bungee cord, tow rope, snow scrapers. It’s great to know I have them so it’s easy to use in an emergency but all together in the box so you can pull them out quickly if I need the space for cargo
