2026 Toyota 4Runner SR5 - Underground
Picked up my first Toyota a couple months ago - 2026 SR5 4WD in Underground. I previously owned a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Willys that I built out a bit to have a very OEM+ style to it, nothing crazy but still looked cool. I knew I wanted to go with a similar style build on my 4Runner so I pretty much had everything planned out before taking delivery. This will be my daily so I have no intentions of going too overboard, I just want to improve the look and function over the base SR5. Love the way it turned out!

2026 SR5 - Underground
- Toyo Open Country AT3 (285/70R17)
- Method MR318 (Gloss Black, +25mm offset)
- Westcott Preload Collar Lift Kit (full front & rear)
- OEM TRD Pro Upper Grill (Part No. 53101-35170)
- OEM style cross bars
- TRD Pro style tail lights
- Lasfit T3-7443A LED front turn signals

I've been wanting to go with the TRD upper grille on my ORP, but I was concerned the gloss finish would look weird since the bottom grille is a matte black on mine. Is yours the same way?

Yeah my upper and lower are different - honestly the difference is almost indistinguishable between the lower grill being matte and the upper grill being gloss. In my opinion you would never notice it if you didn't already know.

Yeah looking at pictures I was finding it hard to tell at all, but didn't know how it would look up close in person though. Thanks!

This is gorgeous! But doesn't this drastically change the ride? I have my first 4Runner (trd force max premium) and I love the way it drives coming from lifted trucks and all-terrain tires most of my life. But this looks amazing.

In my opinion - the preload collar lift kit has virtually no noticeable impact on ride quality. I would also say the same on wheels/tires. I did go with all-terrains in load class SL to help alleviate any potential issues with ride quality. I'd imagine a more aggressive tread, larger size, and heavier load rating would make the ride worse though. As is, the ride on mine is great - no complaints whatsoever.

Looks awesome! I think I'm gonna go ahead and order that grille now. It's been bookmarked for so long but I've been holding off because I'm not that excited about the installation.

But this post pushed me over

The install is not horrible. A little bit involved, but there a few good tutorials out there. Biggest thing is keeping track of all the screws/pins/clips that you have to remove. I used a bunch of labeled ziploc bags to track everything.

That's an impressive build. Well done. Your rig basically looks like my TRD Pro, but you spent thousands less.
