This weekend, added Hood Struts and decided to paint the factory front tow hooks red.

For now, the factory hooks in red add the subtle pop I was looking for.

Did some things this weekend…

Swapped out the OEM meep meep and got the Land Cruiser Prado horns installed. Comparison with upgrade and original.

Also added a Zekzoop Insulation to the hood. Aside from thermal benefits, I noticed it improved the hood floppiness at highway speeds. Feels more stable with it on, less visual wobble.

After installing the insulation pad:

and finally got the air dam off! :)

Does the aftermarket hood insulation works?

Definitely helps with the hood not flopping in highway speeds.

It reduces the engine noise, and from my observation makes the hood appear more sturdy.

I heard it helps protect the paint and the thermal aspect makes sense too.

What brand did you use?

How are you liking the tires? Are they white letters on one side, black on the other? I'm looking at these but I'm not crazy about the white letters showing.

It looks like you installed the struts in the wrong orientation.

BFG KO3’s, they have white letter and black on the other side. All down to your preference.

I’m enjoying them, i recommend the C-rated if you’re not making the rig heavy and want better handling.

They def take a hit on MPG’s, but it makes the truck so different from stock.

It looks like you installed the struts in the wrong orientation.

Good catch, i must have gotten too excited. Literally stopped reading the instructions after the brackets. Better design would be to not let that install happen backwards! Thanks for letting me know, gonna correct that!

Hi everyone!
Been inspired by a lot on here and plan on adding pics along the journey of being a first time 4Runner owner.

Fresh from the dealership

Learned real quick that tint was needed. Went over to TX Tint & PPF in Austin, highly recommend them. Got XPEL XR+, 50 windshield, 15 on sides and 50 all around for uniform look (on top of factory shade).

And the itch hasn’t stopped… so I swapped the Yokohama X-CV’s and got some tires.

BF Goodrich KO3 265/70/17 on the stock SR5 wheels. Swapped the lug nuts to black.

Ended up with C-Rating, I tried the E-Rated for a week and it was too sluggish off the line. After one day of heavy rain, traction control went off causing the rears to swerve, which prompted me to swap.

Right now, I do have the air dam still on β€” but plan on deleting in future.

Wasn’t sure how I was going to like the white lettering on all black setup, but i’m digging the contrast at the moment.

Looking forward to driving this! Yeehaw!

Do you have any issues with ko3 balancing? Im thinking of just going with the trail terrain tires rather than the ko3s, what do you recommend?
