  1. What grease and favorite grease gun for prop shafts ?

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease LockNLube Heavy Duty Lever Grease Gun (Green)
  2. Hybrid vs Gas Long Term Value???

The Land Cruiser 250 sold around the world has the 2.8 turbo diesel. It is great, high torque engine. I guess Toyota put together the hybrid version to make it feel close to it. However didn’t think too much about this battery….
  3. Hybrid vs Gas Long Term Value???

For acceleration the Bronco with the 2.7 V6 turbo is possibly the fastest of the bunch. Not sure about its reliability though. Personally the gas only 4Runner is all I need from an off roader and am completely happy with it.
  4. Hybrid vs Gas Long Term Value???

Toyota makes good unibody hybrids, but no body on frame trucks with good hybrid solutions. Look at the absurd placement of the battery in the North American Land Cruiser and the hybrid 4Runner. If this was an original design, the battery should have been placed elsewhere. But as I said above...
  5. Hybrid vs Gas Long Term Value???

The reasons I purchased the gas only version are mainly two, and both involve the battery and its placement. First, it takes 10 inches off the cargo capacity and makes the floor very high to load. Second, one is not supposed to place anything heavier than 120 lbs. over the battery, which is the...
  6. Why only 2025 4Runners (no 2026 4Runner) on dealer lots?

Folks are still grieving for the Gen 5 and its 4.0l naturally aspirated engine, plus the Mexican built Tacos are naturally having issues and because it is a close sibling the 4 Runner makes buyers hesitant. However this is a Tahara built truck which has shown no issues at all and people are...
  7. Why only 2025 4Runners (no 2026 4Runner) on dealer lots?

They come on a ship, have to be fitted at the port with add-ons like running boards, etc. Then the cars got allocated and trucked to the dealers… Only God knows Toyota’s dealings..
  8. What Gas Octane Level Required For iForce Max Hybrid - 87 or 91?

I run mine on Costco Premium gas. Runs great and don’t plan to switch to a regular anytime soon.
  9. What Gas Octane Level Required For iForce Max Hybrid - 87 or 91?

I run mine on Costco Premium gas. Runs great and I don’t think of switching to regular anytime soon.
  10. Engine/Turbo reliability inquiry

The 2.4 turbo has been used in many Toyota/Lexus models for a few years now. In contrast to the 3.4 V6 in the Tundra, the LX and the GX it has been a reliable engine so far. Just you have to change its oil more frequently.
  11. Weather Tech vs. Lasfit Floor Mats Liners

I got Lasfit. Cheaper than Weathertech and IMO equally good. Personally I am very satisfied with them.
  12. What factory oil and filter?

Mobil 1 0w-20 ESPx2 is a very good oil for turbo engines like ours. It can be purchased on sale on Amazon and in Walmart.
  13. Recommended engine break-in and oil change frequency + factory oil analysis test (by Motor Oil Geek)

Mobil 1 0w-20 ESPx2 is a good oil which can be bought on sale on Amazon or in Walmart. For $30 bucks plus $10 for the filter, I don’t think I’ll get poor if I change my oil every 3K miles on my $58k truck. What do you think?
  14. 5W-30 for hot climates? 0W-20 for cold climates?

it looks like this manual is for a different engine. The oil fill is 7.7 quarts! The Toyota 2.4 Turbo 4 in the 4Runner and North American 250 Land Cruiser takes 5.9 quarts of oil. Different engine, different oil specifications...
  15. Recommended engine break-in and oil change frequency + factory oil analysis test (by Motor Oil Geek)

When I buy a new car on the first oil change, I always replace the oil drain bolt with a Fumoto valve. This makes all subsequent oil changes so much easier and cleaner, so I don’t have to spend any effort to do it. The only major thing is replacing the filter. On the 4Runner the skid plate which...
  16. 5W-30 for hot climates? 0W-20 for cold climates?

Thank you for helping me prove my point. Although Grok is no Toyota, the fore mentioned information sheds a light on two important facts. First 5W30 is acceptable only in Europe and Australia, and second the 4 Runner is sold in North America only and with its 2.4 turbo engine. The Land Cruiser...
  17. 5W-30 for hot climates? 0W-20 for cold climates?

I haven’t seen anywhere proof about what you are saying. Toyota is selling the 4Runner in North America, and recommends the use of 0W20 oil. In the user manual they state 5W20 is acceptable too. If this engine is being used in different models and sold elsewhere, with different tuning or...
