I installed them on mine and am very satisfied. For one, there is a service opening on the engine plate which makes the oil changes easy in contrast to the factory plates.
I personally never saw the point of using oil additives. If one doesnât like a particular oil, there are hundreds of other options to choose from. Different base oil chemistry, different additive packages, etc. I have a couple of go to oils. Use them all and stick to the one which my car likes...
I had the opportunity to drive extensively the Land Cruiser as well. In comparison to my new 4Runner the LC has a little smoother ride. I wonder if this is due to slightly different suspension components. The good thing is that the 4Runner has an universe of aftermarket support so softer, more...
The reason I am hesitant changing the recommended viscosity is that the motor oil in modern engines doesnât work only for lubrication. It works as a hydraulic fluid and coolant in other systems like valve timing, turbo cooling, etc. One can imagine that changing the viscosity might affect...
Another good example why we shouldnât follow the car manufacturerâs recommendations 100% of the time. Extra care is better than neglect. Personally I change my oil following exactly the same protocol and run my 4Runner on Costco Premium gas. Hopefully the car will pay me back for thatđ.
Canât think of a better knowledge in the field. What I like about his narrative is that he explains everything in a very simple language and uses arguments supported by practical analysis. I happen to have a very good knowledge of petrochemical chemistry and can tell that Lake is an expert.
Any...
âThe Motor Oil Geekâ Lake posted today a video describing the proper, according to him, break-in oil change protocol for the Toyota 2.4 turbo engine of the 4Runner, the Tacoma, the Land Cruiser, etc. I tend to trust this guy because everything he talks about is based on scientific test and makes...
So now the trunk would be full to the roof with batteries? The current hybrid version is so ridiculous with that afterthought of a battery so I can imagine how a BEV 4Runner would be.
I donât see why. You already have a vary capable off roader, and youâll have it for a long time knowing itâs track record. The only reason to buy the new one is if this is your first, or if you have a Jeep and you are tired of its problems.
Last weekend drove 120 miles which was 100 miles on the highway. The average speed was 50 mph. At the end of the trip I got 24.1 mpg, which is my best reading so far. The truck has 1500 miles on it. Used 93 octane Costco gasâŚ
Their oil is OK. As for a filter I like high end ones like Purolator Boss, Mobile 1, K&N⌠Filtration is very important and cheap filter like the Made in Thailand Denso (Toyota) is beneath the demands of this engine, IMO. The 4Runner comes with made in Japan filter, but when you go to the dealer...
We have a 2017 RAV4 XLE too and it has actually a nice ride. Has been bulletproof with absolutely zero problems. I maintain it well which will do with the 4R. Also made in Japan. In general I donât buy Toyotas which are not made there and use only OEM parts, including oil and filters. Have no...
Yesterday we went on some moderate off-roading. No mechanical issues whatsoever. The interior was absolutely quiet. No squeaks or rattles. The car feels like is built like a piece of rock. The only thing is the stiff suspension, but it is expected since it is a body on frame truck. To keep it...
