So researching the 2025 4Runner TRD Sport Premium and TRD Off Road Premium and am wondering if people who currently own them notice the hard plastics on the arm rests, door panels, and glove box in daily driving?

These are upgraded to soft touch materials in the Limited, Platinum, Trailhunter, etc...trims. I've noticed my 2015 Trail Premium has soft touch on the arm rests and door panels. Not necessarily a show stopper given all the improvements but just wanted to get some feedback from people.

That was an unfortunate decision by Toyota, but honestly, I still really enjoy my ORP and don't dwell on it.

### Annoying Rattle Alert

However, I have noticed a distinct **rattle** coming from my driver's side door, especially with certain bass frequencies in the music. I have a feeling it's going to drive me crazy, and I'll likely end up adding some **insulation or foam** to fix it. May even take it back to the dealership under warranty...

lol I reported to to Toyota customer service along with the spoiler and brake issues. It’s annoying rattle….. I can reproduce it though. To answer OP yes I got the sport prem I notice the plastic I drive with my arm up there and feel it but I mean least of the problems for me hehe

Good feedback though. Which ever one you test drive make sure nobody else has driven it that day and reverse it out make sure you don’t have the brake squeal. If you do your gonna be F’ed indefinitely….. wish I’d known that

I drove Limited, SportP and ORP before buying ORP. Until I saw the video I did not even know there was a difference in the material on the arm rest, etc. FWIW.

Have the same rattle with deep bass. I have notice it is worse when I listen to Howard Stern. For me worse on the passenger side. Haven't yet found exactly what is causing it. At first I thought it was the seatbelt housing. But no luck so far.

Only one I was concerned about was the top of the door where I put my elbow. Hasn't bothered me one bit. If someone were to make a third party soft touch insert or pad, I would only get it if the price were really good but I definitely don't need it. All the other hard plastics I haven't noticed.

It honestly is kind of annoying, because the plastics just scratch and scuff easily. I get some weird rattles from the drivers side doors with bass turned up at some frequencies too. It's not a super big deal, but for what Toyota's selling them for, I don't really understand why every touch point is literally the cheapest material possible.

I can definitely stop the rattle if I push on the plastic... So my thinking is it just needs some extra foam or insulation behind the door (near the arm rest area).

Driven 6-10 hrs a day the past week on a road trip and has not been an issue for me. I rest my arm up there all the time.

What does the brake squeal in reverse mean?

I haven't really noticed the hard plastics much at all. I usually drive with my left hand (habit developed during the days of manual transmissions) so my right arm is usually on the center console anyway. I have noticed the rattle with the bass frequencies in the door as well.
