Most of my dislikes are connectivity related. So many other manufacturers do a much better job of this.
The other thing is how dirty the rear gate gets so easily.
Laughing, the rear end gate, door, bumper etc. are the only parts I washed for two washings.

Just coming up on a year now, a little less than 6,000 miles on it. It's the Trailhunter trim and the only thing I'm not crazy about is the gas mileage, other than that it's perfect. It is a rock crawling off-road beast. Only thing I'll do to it, going to switch out the wheels and tires to Nokian Outpost n AT and some method wheels. No other modifications planned.

So crazy that it's been two years to the day since the 6th Gen was unveiled!

Now that the dust has settled and 6th gens have been on the road for a while, let's hear some feedback:

What do you love most about the new platform?
Alternatively, what do you hate?

Curious to read your replies!

We've had ours a year on April 3rd. Love driving it, get good gas mileage with the hybrid, good power. Struggle with the screens to check the tire pressure, set the mileage to zero, not user friendly for me and the infotainment screen doesn't stay where I last had it set.

just change 1 of the 3 display screens to show the tire psi panel on the left or right of the center gauge.

9 months here in limited hybrid. Dislikes are minimal: Unable to use power liftgate if window is down. Radio will sometimes switch audio from head unit to carplay for no reason. Having to turn off the backup sensor thing every time the bike rack is on the hitch is annoying. The pumped in engine noise on Sport mode is dumb. Center console is the smallest I have ever seen.

Love: Most everything so far. Fun to drive. Adaptive Cruise on all the time. All the tech. Comfortable for a body on frame. I can customize it easily to make it mine (with I am sure tons more options in the future). Easily holds my wife, 4 large dogs + camping gear (with a hitch cargo carrier).

The only thing I don't like is the jerkiness of the auto start from a stoplight. I can always shift into manual or Tow/Haul mode, though. I've driven much lesser vehicles with much smoother engagement. Other than than I love it!

I have the TRD off road premium. I love the truck but I do wish somethings were better. I feel like there is a lot more plastic pieces that could have been replaced with soft material. The apple car play lags to connect and I have to manually go into the settings to connect. Sometimes I even have to turn off the truck and turn it back on. The door rattles with music. I just did a long road trip and My hamstrings are sore from the seat too. I guess that may be because I am in my 30's ? I was expecting to get a better MPG but i was averaging ~18 with no traffic and going avg of 70-80 mph.

I have the 25 TRD offroad hybrid. Going 70 to 80 does lower your MPG a lot. I learned that my first few trips. Keeping to 65, I get ~23 in ECO mode. My last trip I towed a 2000+ lb trailer but kept the speed to 55 and got up to 18.

I have had my TRD Sport Premium for almost 10 months. Overall I really love having it and driving it. I was bit worried about the 4 cylinder turbo but that has been great. Top 3 things that are annoying. Various rattles, noisy wiper motors, and the brake noise when reversing when brakes are cold which started around mile 5000 and is getting worse. I have my 10K service appointment next week so hopefully the brake noise can be addressed.

I just got my tsb done yesterday for the brake noise! Mine started around the same miles as you and it just had gotten worse over time. I believe the parts are backordered and I had to wait roughly 2 months for parts to get to the dealership.

love:

- looks
- capability (go anywhere)
- modern tech
- comfort

hate/dislike:

- all the beepings
- the lock button on the trunk working less than half the time.
- lane assist useless in straight lines (keep your hands on the wheel! they are!)
- phone Bluetooth connectivity only working half the time ( have to go in manually to connect again) hate this!
I live in Pennsylvania. With winter comes ice roads and the lane assist may spin out the vehicle. The auto breaking can also lock up and rearrange the front hood and bumper. Really surprised insurance companies haven't picked up on this "yet"?

Coming up on a year & 16k+ miles:

Likes
- Style/Looks
- Off-road capability (total beast IMO)
- Comfort (WAY more comfy on long road trips compared to my ā€˜18 TACO)
- Tactile buttons/controls
- I like the big screen, especially for maps
- Powertrain (again…compared to my 3rd gen TACO…this thing is a pleasure to drive)
- Heated steering wheel/seats, and cooled seats are a great add
- I really like the lane assist/radar cruise— yeah it’s not great around hard curves, but on every road trip we’ve taken it’s been a blessing.
- This 4Runner is my first and it will be with me for a very long time…it’s the perfect daily driver/adventure combo
- Tow’s our 2017 Casita great (~2700lbs)…barely feel it back there.
- Sound system + JBL removable speaker is nice IMO

Dislikes
- Jittery over small bumps, but not a deal breaker…pretty smooth ride overall. I do wish it would ride a bit more like the hybrid…not sure why that can’t be achieved.
- The paint is really weak (Ice Cap)…lots of chips already, seems thin. I now realize I should have wrapped immediately…but feel like this shouldn’t have to be the case.
- Having to manually disable safety features when using bike rack—c’mon…really?
- 8 beeps every time I get out while it’s running with key in my pocket sends fiery rage through my Italian veins…
- Driver’s door rattle while playing loud music (only happens with certain base tones)
- Hefty price tag…but I do think it’s still worth it…at least at the ORP trim level.
- Thankfully I’m in a dry climate & have only heard break squeal occasionally after washing, but it’s still annoying.

Great purchase, great ride! Happy camper here
