So crazy that it's been two years to the day since the 6th Gen was unveiled!

Now that the dust has settled and 6th gens have been on the road for a while, let's hear some feedback:

What do you love most about the new platform?
Alternatively, what do you hate?

Curious to read your replies!

Hate's a strong word. But I really dislike the distance between the centerline of the driver seat and the outside edge of the vehicle. It always seems like a larger span than necessary and requires a bit of sliding. Couple that with the high bolsters and seems like the 4Runner will give you a daily wedgie.

Like:
Good blend of hands on controls with modern electronics and functionality.
It really is a go anywhere kind of vehicle for me, from looking nice around town to letting me explore anywhere in the backcountry.
I personally like the stiffer handing compared to my 22 Tacoma, maybe not as good going off road but WAY better on road which is where I drive it more.
The looks, I think it’s a pretty nice looking vehicle, and I love my Everest color. (side note, my paint is soooo much better than the black on my Tacoma was. I think a lot of the paint complaints here are maybe color specific)

Dislike:
All the teething issues with a year 1 vehicle. Lots of rattles and squeaks and issue that take away from the enjoyment of owning a new vehicle. Doesn’t help my dealer is worthless for this kind of thing.
The safety systems are extremely intrusive for me, especially PKSB, door/hatch opening beeps, etc. The 4Runner tries toooo hard to remind you of things at times, and Carista only lets you turn so much of that off compared to other vehicles I’ve owned.
I wish the rear seats folded flat, but it is what it is.

only have 2 cons

1. the automatic running boards are useless if you are taller than 5.8 / they are at an awkward height to where it is easier to just step into the 4runner than using the auto boards. the vehicle doesnt sit tall enough to make them usefull for taller folks.

2. the rear doors kick out painted plastic wheel well arches. unless you have proper protection or good mud guards (oems suck for this) or a solid static running board, they will get abused by debris a lot (see yellow circle)

after going thru a winter, mine now how a rough texture to them vs when new

Too many pros to list - I’m overall very happy with my 2025 TRD ORP in Heritage Blue. Above all, I love its off-road and inclement weather capability combined with its comfortable on-road feel and up-to-date electronics. And having the reliability of Toyota is a huge plus for me.

Cons are mostly minor - grab/entry bars are awkward or missing for all doors; no place to hang dry cleaning in the rear; front drink holders seem too far back; wish the rear seats folded flat; interior lights are a bit dim (I’ve upgraded). That’s about it.

The 4 cylinder turbo engine has turned out great; plenty of power.

The only thing I really don't like is the noise that the windshield wiper motor makes. Living in the PNW the wipers get plenty of use...

Still not sure how I feel about the tucked in rock sliders, wife could really use step sliders to help get in. Same about the lack of sunroof, haven't purchased a new vehicle without it since the Clinton era...

only complaint in the paint job. It cannot take any beating, but it is what it is for now. Should have wrapped it right away, lessons learned even in your 50s

Stupid grab bar for passenger side. And windshield glass is crap—- I’ve replaced one and it needs it again. I think the glass is not made well. And the dealer just wants to sell me a windshield warranty….šŸ™„ I’ll just ride it out —- more badass looking , right? 🤣

other than this — happy but it is my first 4Runner so nothing to compare it to.

Most of my dislikes are connectivity related. So many other manufacturers do a much better job of this.
The other thing is how dirty the rear gate gets so easily.

Just coming up on a year now, a little less than 6,000 miles on it. It's the Trailhunter trim and the only thing I'm not crazy about is the gas mileage, other than that it's perfect. It is a rock crawling off-road beast. Only thing I'll do to it, going to switch out the wheels and tires to Nokian Outpost n AT and some method wheels. No other modifications planned.

We've had a 3rd and 5th Limited models to compare.

Pro's:
1. Steering.
2. More power considering it's a 4 banger.
3. MPG.

Con's:
1. Noisy windshield wiper motor.
2. Feels more cramped, especially rear seating. Entry/exit not as easy as prior gens.
3. Rear seat not folding flat.
