Hey yall,
I have a 2025 4Runner Platinum reserved that’s scheduled to hit my dealer mid to late December. Posting the spec sheet below.

This VIN has a bunch of LIO accessories that bump the price. Anyone have any luck with negotiating below MSRP?

Also curious what you’d consider a reasonable OTD target on this build in December. Estimated to be available 12/26, so hoping to take advantage of end of month/year.

Any feedback appreciated.

Hello, I am new to this website - I joined after delivery of my 4Runner Platinum this week. I waited about four weeks for delivery and was able to "negotiate" my price down about $400 from MSRP.

I hope this helps!

That's A LOT of add ons. Can't do much about the factory add ons, but the others...there's some room for negotiating. You can use some tools and links found on this forum to find every Platinum for sale in the country. You're in the position of power, not the dealer. Especially since it's the end of the year and the 2026 models will be coming out soon. Don't be afraid to buy a car from outside the state and have it shipped. Many times you'll save money in the end even after paying the shipping costs.

If it were me, personally, I'd shop around some and find one without as many add ons. You can get brand new cross bar take offs for half the price of what they are charging and similar type deals on a lot of the add ons in the aftermarket.

If you are set on that particular Platinum, I'd offer them $65k. That's the base MSRP plus the automatic running boards. They might scoff at that, but tell them, "I think I'll wait a few months on the 2026 models to come out." and leave the dealership. They'll call back and then you can negotiate from there.

You can do better than their $69k asking price. That's not much less than the TRD Pro's and Trailhunter's. Just my personal take. You do you and good luck with your purchase.

Any GOOD dealer will allow you to remove any PIO prior to your truck reaching the dock. That $399 vehicle protection package is also junk and should be removed.

Had my platinum delivered in sept. It's way better then I thought it would be if your interested. I paid full msrp but they gave me a generous trade in allowance. Looking at their current dealer inventory they are offering $1500 of list price on a white trail hunter, at a Toyota dealer in Wisconsin. Also it does not have all the add ons you're looking at. I would think you could get at least $2000 off price. Good luck

My thoughts.... the platinum is a pretty interesting trim. If I was looking for a more street oriented vehicle, I'd probably get that trim rather than an LC or a GX. Probably a red one.

As far as negotiation goes, it's all about how much do you need or want that car right now. In the last couple of years I've had luck sitting down at a dealer calling out things I don't want, and having them deduct those costs from the price. Then again, those were cases where the dealer had plenty of inventory, and that's generally not the case for the platinum.

Would definitely recommend calling dealers with what you're looking from based on what's in https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/thr...vin-eta-ship-status-dealers-hold-status.2707/

I divide up options lists into categories:

1) Things I actually want such as cargo cover and mud guards. Yes I could get them for less buying them separately, but the amounts aren't big enough for me to care

2) Things I don't particularly care for, but will tolerate. For me, cross bars and ball mount fall in this category. I'd accept the protection package, but only if the price is zero.

3) Dealbreakers. This includes the clear wraps that some dealer like to put on half of the hood and the exterior door handles, the Toyota dash cam, and the various letter and badge overlays and inserts. Not seeing these in here, but pulse brakelights and aftermarket alarms and trackers (e.g. Karr systems) I hate those things and would walk away from a vehicle that has them.

You spent a lot tbh, if you want street oriented then that’s fine, but honestly if you’re at that price range then think about trd pro or trail hunter? Just a thought!

Dealer orders a bunch of crap options nobody wants simply to inflate the price and gouge the buyer on price/interest. Buy elsewhere if they won't negotiate options you could easily purchase elsewhere that suits your needs better. At that price, I'm buying a TH/TRD Pro...perhaps Lexus

We negotiated $4k under msrp for our ORP, fwiw

yeah, a base platinum is about $5k less than a base GX550...
that is true, but to get the same features that the platinum has you have to jump up to a higher trim in the GX ranks.

it just depends on what features you want to have or drop in the base entry model on the gx

big example, digital mirror is only available gx550 luxury at 82k and higher trims, also the power running boards are only on the 550 luxury and higher trims (not even an option on the lower trims), avs on 550 luxury and above.

heated 2nd row seats are only on the 550 prem+ at 70k

If it hasn’t gotten to the port or left the port. Id talk to your Sales guy and see if he can have certain things you don’t want removed.
I was able to do this with my Pro before it left the Port

I figured out a SR5 was allocated to a dealer out of state (3 hour drive) and I was bale to contact them and negotiate it down about $1,500. They had certain things like "theft protection window etching" for 400$ and predator steps for $699 which i simply told them I was not interested in so I would not be paying for them but if they took it off id place a deposit that afternoon. Both still came with the vehicle, but they did not charge me for them.

Hi yall, thanks for the solid insight and advice, super helpful. I reached out to my dealer about removing items such as dash cam, cross bars, cargo accessories, and protection packages. He shared he'd have to talk to his director, but since it's still being transported, they can't do much until it lands on shore, estimated 2 weeks until I get an answer.
I'll definitely follow up and let y'all know how negotiations went and if I ended up snagging this platinum.
