GST=Gulf States Toyota (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas) and SET=South East Toyota (177 independent Toyota dealerships in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.), they are their own separate independent Toyota "distributers" outside of Toyota USA which handles the rest of the US. Those two are well known for all their distributor and dealer add on packages.

So in short, avoid those states if you can.. There may be independent dealers in those regions that are not apart of them but I cant say if that's accurate or not.

For me, I would download that spread sheet every morning, sort and filter to the model/color i wanted. Then I would look at the options and remove any that didn't meet my requirements and start contacting dealers. The one I ended up getting I called on the day it allocated to that dealer when it first appeared on the report, placed a $500 refundable deposit and waiting for it to arrive. Don't get hung up on the pre-sold column as a lot of times its not accurate, best to contact each dealer to see. A lot of dealers will not mark them pre-sold even when they are just to generate leads.
Oh, that makes a lot more sense, thank you.

This dealer is supposed to be sending me a final cost. I am curious what starting point they will give me based on this sheet saying it is on sale today. The good news is, I am in zero hurry as getting this vehicle is way into the want column over need. So time is on my side. I'll expand my search on that sheet. Really appreciate the knowledge.

I found that a lot of dealers have add ons that don't show up until you get to final paperwork when they try and hit you for things like GPS tracking/Protection packages/blinking 3rd brake light that have all been pre-installed but not called out on the window sticker so it gets added in later and you wonder why the total was so high.

Not close to you but Rob Gilkey @ Victory Toyota in Charleston WV was where I bought mine through, they were great. Yes they had about 5k in dealer add-ons that were on the car when they sent the first proposal over to me, but I said I don't want them, they said ok and removed them and never tried to tack anything back on at any point. MSRP+Doc fee+sales tax was all it was.

Tailhunters have a very niche customer so I would think it favorable to find one sitting and work a deal on it (outside of SET/GST regions) Also might not hurt to reach out to Jim Rouleau he is a broker that can get some amazing deals. He is very active in the Under MSRP Toyota Facebook groups. I know he is on here too but don't know his user name.
