First off i love the new 6G!
Currently own both ‘23 & ‘25 4Runner. Moved the ‘23 from travel/wife’s vehicle to replace Tacoma that was traded in.
The ‘25 Limited will be the travel/wife’s driver now. BUT THE PROBLEM is i removed several+ boxes of crap from both and several days now trying to put crap back out of the boxes and will not fit. Will not come close.
This new 4Runner is longer, wider, and taller but sucks on the storage inside room. Someone had to really research getting rid of interior storage space. And if they kept a space they made it smaller.

I’m not talking volume for room. I’m talking where you put stuff you keep in vehicle all the time. I call it crap, I’m sure you have better terminology.

One other problem will be fixed this week. I never have steps on 4Runners or Tacomas. This one came with non-electric steps and i called the store, they will take off and i will stick them in a corner of the garage.

Its a good opportunity to sort and organize your stuff. How much stuff needs to be stored in a vehicle long term? I like to keep my vehicles clear so when needing space, I have it.

i keep a small box with a emergency battery starter and a first aid kit. Thats it.

its due to the hybrid battery. it affects the non HV versions layout along with the 3rd row requirement

when they re-did the seat layout due to the batteries it affected the layout for storage.

I had to buy a small "trunk organizer" crate for a few things like a jump starter box. When I bought the 4Runner, I assumed (yes, I know) that there was a space beneath the cargo floor. Spoiler: There isn't.

The hybrid has concealed storage behind and in front of the battery. I keep a ton of stuff in those places. Okay, not a ton, but a lot of stuff.

The extra space taken by the hybrid battery was one of my biggest sticking points. In the end I decided I would just suck it up for the extra power and slightly improved fuel efficiency. My issue is mainly for my giant dogs, but we will manage. The storage space fore/aft the battery that Everybodyduck mentioned is actually quite a bit, and very useful.

My other big sticking point--but in common with the other vehicle I was strongly considering (Bronco) was that the back seats do not really get out of the way very well. Locked down they are not terrible, but don't leave much vertical space. I may consider removing one or both as needed, but so far I have not. It has been entirely doable so far. I did install the LasFit rubber mats in the back; they are great and mean I do not have to put something else back there to keep carpets clean(ish) and they do not take up extra space.

I would contact toyota before removing 2nd row tumblers. I tried it on my 200 Landcruiser , seatbelt connection issues and good luck trying to re-install with the spring loaded conection points

Probably a good idea if I ever do want to do this, although there is a YouTube video and you remove the whole thing, so probably no issue with springs as that come out attached.

I have a system with drawers from 2004/2018/2021 but not looking good for the 2025 due to floor anchor positions. What irks me the most is the miniscule center console

just be happy toyota learned from the mistake on the 3rd gen tundra with hybrid.

there is ZERO extra storage in the cab with the hybrid.

i am glad we went with the non-hv tundra, i have the rear underseat storage filled with stuff for winter and towing straps and what nots.

Raising the floor 5 inches and then carving out a couple pockets is not exactly a gain in storage.

or you could have nothing like that did on older HV vehicles

I managed to cram a few things in with the tire iron.

If you put something solid between the tire iron bag and the wall, about 1.5 inches, then strap that down, it creates a space between the tire iron bag and the wall that you can stuff things in to and the tire iron holds it in place so you can close the cover, and the overall width still allows the cover to close.

I have a cheap harbor freight 120W inverter in there, which is just enough to run a power tool battery charger. The inverter creates the space for a bunch of other stuff like the trailer hitch pin and a flashlight, the roof rack crossbars tool kit, andusb charger & some cables including to recharge the flashlight.

Probably a better more practical/usable way to go would be to use some kind of tool wrap/roll that can hold a bunch of stuff all in a single bundle that you can just put in the same strap that holds the tire iron kit, instead of a bunch of loose stuff like I have in there now. Then again part of the way it's working right now is the seperate items are conforming around those vertical ribs in the wall. See how the inverter sits right next to a rib instead of on top of it. A tool roll might still not waste that space depending on what's in it and how they're arranged in it.
