Guide to install all skid plates specifically rear diff. Rear diff is the hardest of the 3. The front 2 are pretty simple bolt on.
Installed:
Front Trd Aluminum skid: PTR60-35240 (Trailhunter skid will work for non hybrid)
Transfercase STEEL skid: PT228-35248 (PT228-35247 for hybrid)
Rear Diff STEEL skid: PT228-89254 (Will work for both hybrid and non)
ATTACHED PDF SHOWS THE FOLLOWING:
PT228-89254 -ALL Gas Models and LIMITED/Platinum HV Models
POST INSTAL EDIT, RUBBER CIRCLED BELOW ARE NOT NEEDED FOR THE NON HYBRIDS:
1- Be VERY careful on the brake lines! I recommend you tape up the brake lines where the brackets slide under. The will likely scratch it up. See the attached instructions. I unscrewed all the brake line tie down locations. It makes it easier to move it out of the way.
2- The small black brackets are angled, you can install them on backwards! There is only one way they go on. Again see the instructions. In addition, the big skid plate can ALSO be installed on backwards! Some in this forum did, please see the PDF and note the orientation to the front of the vehicle!
See attached PDF installation guideline, torque to spec.
This skid is shown for the 4runner and Land Cruiser as a direct fit. PT228-35242 is the Tacoma plate and comes with the rubber stops I've shown above.
