Good morning, I'm new to this thread, and expecting the 4Runner to come in any day now.
I'm curious as to how many remove the front Air Dam on a permanent basis.
And if many of you have your 4Runner undercoated while new.

Thanks for any input, appreciated in advance.

It was the first thing I did when it parked on my driveway lol. It looks way cleaner if you’re going for an offroad look.

removing the air dam is pretty simple just a few screws off air dam off then put the screws back in its original place. As for undercoating its up to you, do some research on the positives and negatives before making that decision, there are videos on youtube explain it well

It’s very easy to remove the bolts. It does have two plastic tabs toward the center that needs to be depressed to remove. Great YouTube videos out there. I removed to off road. Will put back on for longer highway drives.

Like others stated, pretty simple to remove and improves the look of the 4Runner a lot. Doubt the MPG difference will even be noticed at the pump, everyone drives with a heavy foot these days anyway.

The hex-head screws are 10 mm and once removed you'll have two plastic tabs in the middle holding it up. I put the screws back into their respective holes after removal.

I see you live in KC,MO which is near me so there will be lots of salt used on the roads in the winter. Undercoating could be a good idea. I am holding off on ours. I have owned my Tacoma here for 7 years and never treated the underside. I just made sure to hit the underside with a wand or auto touchless car wash with undercarriage spray as soon as I could after driving through the slush.

Edited to add, the underside of the Tacoma is in great shape with minimal surface rust at the weld spots.

Yes- I think they are needed to hold the trim pieces in place.

I'm curious, what is the purpose for it other that to be the bane to off roaders?

Increase MPG … it actually helps push turbulent air around the car and not under it

Mine started to fall off and damaged. I removed it, told the dealer about it, and they are ordering a new one. I will not put the new one back on as I like the look of it deleted.

What are the tires and wheels on this? Looks sharp.
Thank you. It has the XP package so it has the 18in TRD rims and Nitto Ridge Grappler 265/70R18. So far everything is still stock. Only thing in the image not stock is the air dam delete.
