After watching several reviews on the 2025 4Runner I was surprised by the hard plastics on the new model. Specifically on the top of the door panels and side inserts one the doors on the Off Road Premiums and below trims. The actual arm rests have padding though.

Not a deal breaker but I can't help but notice my 2015 4Runner has soft touch materials in those spots on the doors. Any aftermarket solutions to this?

I am also looking for the same thing. I have a 2005 4Runner SR5 and I rest my arm next to the windows when driving. My 2005 have a soft touch material on the time of the door next to the window. I would like something like that for my 2025 4Runner also. Hope someone post a good answer.

Also hoping a 3rd party addresses this. Even on the Off Road "Premium," the driver/passenger window sill is hard plastic, and the mid-door armrest "padding" is the minimum possible they could get away with and call it soft touch. If you press your finger on it, it's probably 1/8" of open cell foam so it barely passes as soft touch.

I haven't tried it but I'm guessing all these "arm-touch" panels pop off with a pry tool so an aftermarket replacement should be feasible.

In the worst case, if all these panels from the Limited trim level are available as Toyota parts, that might, in theory, work. But they will be hugely overpriced.

I like the hard plastic as they are SUPER EASY to clean. After a day out with the windows down and sunroof open, it's so easy to wipe these down. Then again I am pretty anal when it comes to keeping my 4Runner clean. My 2

I don't understand your point. A covering doesn't have to be porous to be soft and/or have padding underneath. Easily cleaned non-porous, soft-touch and padded materials exist in practically every line of cars.

I think the harder plastic is more durable and easier to clean. It's just my preference.

Would it be removing the hard touch plastics with a pry tool or replacing the entire door panel with the one from the Limited model?

The reason I ask is that I just searched on eBay and for the 5th gen the entire door panel is for sale on there.

That's a good question. Toyota may only sell the full door panel assembly, not the two horizontal arm rest pieces separately (and possible a 3rd one, a vertical piece next to the lower horizontal piece). I was thinking just the 2 separate pieces, popped off with a pry tool. So it may be the case that only a 3rd party would make/sell these pieces.

Any updates on this for aftermarket?

I'll rest my arm on the top part of the door in my 15 Trail Premium which is soft touch there so it's a bit disappointing that Toyota put hard plastic there in the Off Road Premium models.
