the snorkel and suspension upgrade will be expensive. Also those trailhunter's got Rigit
Hello everyone!

I’m currently running a TikTok account under the username “Yotamerchant” where I turn my 2025 4Runner SR5 w PT4WD into the closest thing possible to the Trailhunter (obviously excluding the things like hybrid and lockers that aren’t as attainable). So far I’ve got the grille, the wheels, bronze overlays, upgraded air intake and hood struts. I think I want to try to install heated seats, a front camera, and find some headlights. Any ideas of more upgrades that bridge the gap between the Trailhunter and the SR5? Thank you!!!!

Any plans for the
- Lower grill+ 20inch light bar
- Premium tail light
- Upgraded tow hook
- Mudflap

I guess ARB built this per specs from Toyota, so ARB offers zero support for what will or will not fit on the rack. Also appears the mounting options Toyota chose are next to zero supported by anything you want to mount up. Some folks on here have hacked some things together, but it ain't great.
I live in Austin Texas, and there are quite a few off-road shops here that carry the accessories and mounting hardware for bolting just about anything to the ARB roof rack that came stock on my Trailhunter. It's a really good mounting system and the ARB, an Australian company makes really high quality products, that's why Toyota chose them. Currently have a starlink mini mounted between the rails and when off-roading I keep the maxtrax up there. Sorry no pictures of the mounting options except for the starlink, it's not my everyday driver and I leave it in Colorado in storage for vacation time. Good luck with your project, I did something similar to my 1985 4Runner SR5.

snorkel is actually my biggest qualm with TH so this is not on the list. mudflaps ive just never seen point of since they come off so easily.

Lower grille definitely and ill upgrade fog lights, and headlights all at once while bumper is off. tow hooks just got added to list, thank you! temporarily ive blacked out stock lights but yes ill also do tailights at some point

I went by Rack Attack and they had nothing to even mount recovery boards or a gas can. I like your mount for the Starlink. I was thinking about one of those if I get really serious about camping and off-roading trips.

Hey John 2112 - I’m up the road in the country outside a little place called Holland. Who did your work down in Austin? I’ve actually got Thor Off Road working on the Trailhunter right now…preload collar, bumper, winch. Etc. we were up in Ruidoso last weekend and were talking about putting on the Starlink. That looks like a perfect set-up.

I’ve started hearing there are more differences… larger rear diff that maybe has a different ratio. Presumably the front diff would be different too. Curious how different the suspension components are, beyond just the shocks (knuckle arms look way beefier than my buddy’s 5th gen, which he bent).

would love to better understand the differences

I went to rack attack originally and they were going to order ARB mounting kits for the max tracks that I bought from them but I ended up buying an ARB mounting hardware kit from Amazon. I don't carry gas cans or anything like that with me so I didn't look into those type of mounts, and I'm not really going to build this vehicle up any more than I already have, keeping it mostly stock which is perfect for where I go in Colorado and it rock crawls stock just fine.
I do recommend that starlink mini, works great up in the 4x4 trails with zero cell phone coverage. I ran the starlink cable through the back hatch beneath the molding and it's plugged into a jackery power bank, the power bank is then plugged into the 2400 w AC outlet that came in the Trailhunter. That setup works perfect for streaming music on back road trails, yeah I know LOL. It works great as long as I remember to turn on that AC outlet so I don't drain that battery, which lasts about 5 hours. I tent camp so everything fits inside the cabin so I don't put too much on the roof.

You can save a lot of money and build a better truck if you do it right.
Oh u forgot to put that dollar sign on the time u r a greas monkey on every weekend while your kids and so on missing u at their football practice. This is so wrong is so many way. There are so many things set the TH different from low end and mid trim.

Main issue is adding a lightbar to the ARB which is not possible :(
Yes it is possible but will require taking the rack off and drilling. Also what type of light bars, curve or modular. It is possible. Let me assure you one thing there is no one will mistake the REAL TH for a wanna to be.
