Curious if you all have noticed a drop in mpg since this started?

Not that I've noticed but this thing doesn't get great gas mileage anyway so hard to tell.Curious if you all have noticed a drop in mpg since this started?
Interesting hypothesis on the warmer garage and things expanding. I would buy that if it was a long time before I smelled the smell but give it an hour after I get home and it's pretty bad. Not to mention smelling it while driving makes me think something else is going on.Yeah, I think this is a major concern! I have not noticed a problem, but my vehicle is outside all the time (garage is my workshop). I have not smelled it whie driving. I see you are in Denver...is it cold outside (yeah, I know) but much warmer in the garage? It is possible that, with enough temperature differential, that the fuel in the tank would warm up and expand enough to let a bit vent out of the pressure relief. But that should not happen while driving--at least you would not smell it inside the cabin. Just a thought, but as others have said do not let the dealer pass this off. As you know this can be a safety and health issue.
Yes I agree.. I don't know if they did the UV test as I don't recall them stating that and don't see it on the paperwork right now I'm waiting for Toyota corporate to get back to me to give me next steps.OP - Wondering if the dealer did the UV test as 127.0.0.1 suggested. If they didnāt, ask them why not.
Also wondering the same regarding the āsmoke testā.
I feel like dealerships arenāt as committed to finding a solution as the owner is. They run one test (EVAP) and when the results show no problem they assume there is nothing wrong? Which would make me wonder if they smelled the gasoline when they had your 4Runner in the shop!
Take it back to them (or another dealership) and suggest that they run the above 2 tests. Seems like they need some prodding.
I'm not even sure what a smoke machine test is but they did not mention anything about conducting one of thoseHas Toyota completed a "smoke machine" test? Usually that's what I would do when I'd have a vehicle come in with an issue that was fuel and evap related that was harder to visibly see.
Did you find out if the techs at the dealership were able to smell any gasoline odor? If they did, and they returned it to you with nothing else but the negative test result (on VAC test) done, then I would DEFINITELY NOT return to them for any further help.Yes I agree.. They said they could not replicate the issue. My guess is because in the service department there are thousands of vehicles coming through all the time and the place smells like a giant exhaust factory. It would be hard to place any kind of smells coming from one specific vehicle in a situation like that.Did you find out if the techs at the dealership were able to smell any gasoline odor? Hopefully Toyota corporate can give you some constructive direction toward a solution.
no reason to smoke test evap if there are no codes...system is intelligent andI'm not even sure what a smoke machine test is but they did not mention anything about conducting one of those
No, unless I can replicate issues 100% of the time in a way that the stupidest person in world can understand my dealership won't do anything about it. They are next to worthless for troubleshooting unfortunately, while also being the only Toyota dealership within 3 hours of me.Have you ticket it into the dealership and have they done anything about it?

no reason to smoke test evap if there are no codes...system is intelligent and
knows front to back if there are leaks or not. very rare for evap to have any leak w/o
ECU throwing a MIL
I'd be checkin high pressure fuel pump and rail
