the plugs do reduce noise, open them all up you'll get
some degree of wind and road noise amplified in the empty
clamshell of the door.

doors are built to get wet inside, but also they need to drain
and not hold water

All three plugs on the passenger door were non functional.
Other doors seem to be ok when I removed them although wet inside.
Impossible to seal a moving part on the vehicle. they use planned leakage design.
Sun roofs are notorious because sealing them tight leads to jamming. There is a rectangular channel in the headliner under the glass/body interface. It has a drain in each corner with tubes running to the underside of the car.
Guess what happens when the clog - which they do.
[/Q
I just checked all around mine and they are tight but have little gaps behind
them and drain just fine. dry as a bone and we've had a metric F-ton of rain recently
(plus numerous touch free carwashes)
rav4 have had official TSB on gen 5 door drains clogging
and a mitigation procedure

no TSB I know of yet on 4runner door drains
There isnt a TSB bc its randomly happening, There may be at most 20 people on here who have that issue on 25-26 models. Tbh this is the first ive heard of sloshing water in a 25-26 door. Prior Gen 4runners ive seen where a guy put plugs in all the holes he saw first day he bought his 4runner and well plugged drains... Also ive searched 10different ways on here to see how many folks have sunroof drain issues- specifically on 6gens.... none. Yes sure they can clog and have clogged on prior model even on the best land cruisers and Lexus models. But its not the norm... just like the water in this guys window.

I think you are on to something. I read somewhere the weight of the water will open the flapper. Maybe 50 feet of water would but no way moisture would open it.
Looking closely at the body contours around the plug on the good doors it does look like the flap on that rubber piece has a gap between it and the sheet metal.
Also read dealers are telling people to pull them out and trash them. Not just a 4 runner thing apparently. Nice way to avoid responsibility and spending money.
Cannot trash them where salt and sand are used. The holes are on the outside of the door seals.

there is no flap, it is an open hole mostly covered by the plug
they can arrive off the boat clogged sometimes
(anti corrosion from factory which was the rav4 problem)

To early for sunroof drain clogging on 25 26 model's sunroof. It is also dependent on where the truck is parked.
Parking under pines, maples, and other sap type trees will get that stuff washed through the drains to the duckbill (on some vehicles) where it turns to epoxy.
Have gone through it many times unfortunately. Audi actually has a powered roto rooter for just that purpose.
Being Audi they buried the rear outlets on the sheetmetal behind the rear inner fender.
In any case Toyota has and continues to have this problem across many models.
Should not happen.

I got the same issue. Passenger door. Plugs were tight, not much play for water to drain. All other doors were dry. Pretty sure I'm just gonna pull the plus on all the doors.

Very odd issue and the plus seems like a very odd addition the the 6R.

I feel like Captain Queeg chasing this leak down but I think there may be a couple of causes.
First is a bead of sealant was laid down along the bottom of the door. It appears its purpose is to keep the lower flap on the plug from closing completely. If the bead is not placed correctly (which I cannot understand in automation) the flap will seal against the door. One pic shows my driver side door at the most forward seal correctly sitting on the bead.
Other pic shows the passenger door (reservoir door) where the bead ended before reaching the most forward drain causing the plug to seal against the door.
Third pic is a normal configuration.
It is also possibly the other two plugs were improperly installed or were not to spec.

Toyota sells them in a package of six.

How does one do that?
open up the roof, locate the drains in the corners, run line down them till
they poke out the other end, swish and twist it around a bit on the way in and out
...basically roto-rootering pollen and debris and spider webs that may clog them

Couple of things to be aware of. Twisting the wire could cause it to kink, that will prevent removing the wire. Somehow I know this......
The rear drains may be difficult to locate. I did not find mine in a quick look. Maybe consult the manual.
No compressed air down the drain. Some drains are in multiple pieces held together by a knuckle connection. If you blow one out you are looking at big money to repair it. The hose is a buck the labor is a grand+
Amazon sells drain kits but most have useless brushes mechanically attached and I would not trust them. See getting stuck caution above.

Beware that anything you push down there should be blunt ended, no sharp edges.

If you can locate the routing and exit points it would be better to clean down there.
You might get an idea where the exits are (assuming they are open) by pouring water into each corner then scurry under to find the exit.
