Hi All: I was lucky enough to win a recent Wolfbox #BornForMud contest (Show us your dirtiest post trail battle scars ). That's my TRD ORP on the splash page.
I've been impressed with the stuff that Wolfbox has sent me - including the subject items that were my reward for having the most likes. (Thanks to all of you who liked my photos in that thread - although odins_beer'd truck was certainly dirtier than mine - I guess he took too long to post:>)
So, as I promised Florent from Wolfbox, here is my review of the prizes.
I received the packages about 10 days ago and verified things were working but did not have the chance to really test the compressor performance until an off-road trip Sunday. And I am very happy with the performance and functionality - and thrilled that I was lucky enough to win a prize that I really needed.
First observation: Wolfbox packages these things really nicely. The box opening is sort of like an Apple product (black & orange vs. white & grey box though): very slick graphics and it feels like you are getting a quality product. The Jump Starter/Compressor comes in a nice, sturdy, zippered case (see photo for dimensions). The Air Duster comes with a "velvet" pouch.
Sunday morning I took an offroad excursion and aired down for what was supposed to be a onX Blue (4) trail near Rock Lick Hollow (great name) MD on the way back to NoVA from a trip to central PA. It was at most a 2 (and barely that) so the air down was not needed but I wanted to test the air compressor. I usually run my 285/70R18 Toyos at 39-40# but in the interest of time and taking a chance on the compressor I only aired down to 26# and back up to 36#. RESULT: ~ 3 minutes per tire to air back up. Not bad at all and slightly better than the Slime super duty pro power tire inflator I bought before my last off-road excursion - which failed completely before the 4th tire was filled (and got returned that day).
AND the battery level was only one bar down (from 4 to 3) - indicating that it could handle a much greater air down amount and probably at least 2 cycles (although I would plug it into USB-C charger in the vehicle if I knew I might need it again.) Overall I'm very happy with the performance and happy to say so:>)
Caveat: I've not tested the jump starting function but it seems very straight forward (IFF I needed to jump my 6G4R Hybrid would I connect the jump starter to the 12V battery in the cargo area - guess I will need to look at the manual, but I assume so.)
As for the Air Duster - it seems to work great: 3 speed settings and the top setting is quite powerful. I expect to position it in the boat house to blow up the inflatable lake toys next summer - much more convenient (and less noisy) then the plug in inflator I have. I'm also going to use it to stoke a fire at the fire pit. I would not have thought of this but Wolfbox has a photo of this use case on their web site. Happy to hear of other suggested uses for the Air Duster.
