Hey guys, for those of you who have a full-length roof rack like Westcott, Prinsu, or Sherpa: do you rest the wind fairing/deflector directly on the roof, or do you leave a small gap between the roof and the deflector?
The instructions (Video…) from Westcott aren’t clear enough for me to fully understand the proper installation. Mine has a full-length rubber protector on the deflector, but I’m still unsure whether it’s meant to rest on the roof and maybe damage the paint or PPF.

From experience with fairings of other makes, when they touch a roof, they will leave a line due to road grit, etc. The best thing to do is to treat that portion with ceramic or PPF before installation, so it can be repaired upon removal one day. Personally, I would take a line on the roof before the wind noise any day.

I was having strong vibrations at high speed with my Westcott fairing when there was a small gap. After pushing the fairing all the way down against the roof, everything is fine and much quieter.

I had my Pro ceramic coated before I had my roof rack installed. Went with the Prinsu Pro! Husband installed.
