Why only 2025 4Runners (no 2026 4Runner) on dealer lots?

Folks are still grieving for the Gen 5 and its 4.0l naturally aspirated engine, plus the Mexican built Tacos are naturally having issues and because it is a close sibling the 4 Runner makes buyers hesitant. However this is a Tahara built truck which has shown no issues at all and people are beginning to get it. Sales will be very high as usual in the months to come…
The just recalled lexus lx 600 and gx 550 turbo v6 is also coming out of the glorified Tahara factory.

Hopefully soon 2026 4Runner Off Road
Visited my local dealer Manhattan Beach Toyota. I told the sales dood I wanted a 2026 model. He said they only had 2025s and 26 would not show until end of March.
He obviously was trying to push a 25, problem was I saw five 26s on site!

What he should have done is said something like "I can work a great deal on a 25 for you". But instead I now know not to shop there.

oooh my dealer has 5 2026 coming, VIN's and Maroney sheets listed and everything.
they are in build-phase...so that means a few weeks or a month away
....PIO or Regional Distributor has them now

also has 2025's in build-phase as well....

Yeah, it's strange. I just picked up my 2025 Limited, and a 2026 Limited arrived on the same truck. The VINs were very close together as far as the final digits go.

How are you guys able to tell the difference between the '25's and 26's. Just by looking at the window sticker, right? There isn't any real visual difference between the two besides the Wave Maker color, right?

The wave color for the TRD pro, and having stabilizer disconnect as option on the ORP.

And probably a better price if you trade in or sell it in the next few years.

Toyota does continuous improvements, so there are probably more subtle, hard to notice differences between early and late 2025 than between late 2025 and early 2026.

That is only an option on the ORP Hybrid. Really lame that Toyota gate keeps it like that.
It should be an option on all the TRD OR models.
We don’t even get the option in Canada as what was ORP in ‘25 is now Hybrid Base in ‘26. No disconnecting swaybar unless Pro or Trailhunter. Test drove ‘25 ORP, ordered ‘26 and was getting excited about the swaybar option after reading press. Spoke with dealer and not being offered as option here.
