What did you have to do to reserve/claim your 4runner at the dealer?

(My question refers to US dealerships) What all did you have to fill out and/or sign when you reserved your 4runner? I think this might vary by dealer (and possibly by state) but I'm not sure.
- I didn't have to fill out anything, initially. I just agreed to the spec sheet that they sent me over text. My dealership didn't ask for a deposit, but another one in Charlottesville did, which I refused.

How much was your deposit and is it refundable?
-No deposit from my dealer, but the other one was fully refundable.

Were you forced to accept use of Toyota financing and fill out a loan application?
-I filled out a loan application online, that was sent to me from my salesman. It took about 5 minutes. I had zero issues with this process. I didn't even use Toyota Financing. I went with Wells Fargo, since they offered a much lower APR.

Was there a signed agreement on out-the-door price?
-Yes/No. I had to specifically ask for, in writing, the official OTD price. This gave me a focal point to gauge all of the extra stuff they wanted me to purchase on top of the OTD price. I purchased the extended warranty, extended service agreement, and the glass protection service.

We did everything online with the sales person, including the $2k deposit. We didn't sign anything or agree to anything except that the deposit was non refundable except for issues with the shipment/delivery. If we backed out, we lost the deposit. We weren't expected to use their financing. And we did not agree to the out the door price until we sat down with them after the vehicle was delivered.

Had email confirmation with VIN after working with a sales rep. Never signed anything outside of a credit card authorization for the refundable deposit that had my VIN on it.

$3000 refundable deposit if I chose to walk away from the deal when it arrived

Filled out a loan application, but was not required to take Toyota financing, financed through my bank at a way lower rate

Nope, but honestly, never even asked.

My friend manages a dealer down the freeway a ways. I asked him to get me a Black Pro over a year ago. I took delivery yesterday. They had an Ice Cap / Red at port which I was offered but passed. He traded it for mine. Several weeks ago I drove by the dealership and noticed 2 4Runners out front. Turned around and went back and they were available. Did a tentative deal based on seeing my Girl friend's '24 TRDORP. I called her, she drove over and several hours later she was wheeling her new '25 TRDORP. No deposits, no credit checks in 2 weeks. Nice to know that word of mouth and a sincere handshake is still alive. There are a lot of Flakes in the marketplace and I'm certain this is the reasoning why so many dealers put customers through these gyrations. I stopped in another dealership and their sales guy wanted to make a copy of my driver's license just to talk to me. I wouldn't have purchased from them regardless, and the guy who owns that dealer is a long time acquaintance.
