I've had my windshield washer line chewed by rodents, twice. Under 1,000 miles on my 2025 Off-Road Prem.
Anyone else have this frustrating experience? Paid the dealer to fix the first time. Thought I might give the repair a go myself this time.
Any input as to the repair and prevention would be appreciated ?

I hate that a lot of car manufacturers have moved too soy based wire insulation. Makes them too tasty for the rats/mice.

In my last car, I had a rat die while chewing some wires and got stuck. After I cleaned him out (discovered him only because every time I parked for 2 days, it smelled like a dumpster), I did all the inexpensive tricks in the book:
  • Lined my parking spot in Irish Spring
  • Sprayed Peppermint oil in my engine bay
    • Kept cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil in the engine compartment
No clue if these actually work

luckily in ND we dont have that issue for 6 months of the year. plus the sub division has free roaming cats so that takes care of some of the rodents and bunny rabbits roaming around also.

have plenty of trap in the garage also, had an issue where they would crawl into the sub floor and make nests in between 1st and 2nd floor finished basement.

took a summer to kill them all but havent had them come back since.

I have battled those things forever. Tried all sorts of magic pouches, cedar shavings, etc. Useless.
I did find a peppermint spray I think works ok.
I had signs of rodents just after buying the truck. They typically leave pieces of acorns and other food on flat surfaces like battery, air filter etc.
It can get really expensive if they get into the cabin or HVAC.
Have a Q7 where a mouse worked its way into the air filter and left an acorn inside.
Anyway I started applying a peppermint spray under the hood, in wheel wells and spare tire area.
Have noticed the poop and food bits are no longer under the hood.
Also sprayed under the hood deadening material as best I could because they were storing acorns between the sheetmetal.
Open the hood and it sounds like someone filled it with marbles.
I try to spray every week or so.

This I have found works pretty well. Got it at Lowes.

I stick two tins of this... glued (they are adhesive backed)
to rear pass and front driver area of engine compartment.

I can smell them when walking around vehicle.

when they stop stinking I open the lid and stir it up and it's
good for another month. change them every two months or when
they stop stinkin (minty so it's not horrible)

when these are done (got two boxes of 'em) I'll keep the tins
and just pack them with cotton and peppermint oil since
the empty tins make great devices for that.
