Underground paint chipping

Anyone else having issues with paint chipping? I have 4 spots, all on the hood of my underground Pro, where it's chipped. Haven't been off-road at all yet. Not sure if it's a paint issue or I've maybe been incredibly unlucky with debris, etc. on the roadway. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Yes, I found 2 chips in a spot that doesn't seem like it could have been hit by road debris. Also found 1 possibly 2 bad spots in the clear coat on the hood.

It will be interesting to hear the dealers response if your bring it in for repair under warranty.

Did you check the whole vehicle at time of purchase or soon after?

Yes. These are definitely new(ish) since I picked it up at the end of April. I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow, but I'm not overly optimistic.

Not yet. I can't get to the dealer until late next month, so I put a touch of color-matched paint on the spots for now.

Issues with underground paint have been pretty commonly reported by 5G and Tacoma owners. By far the coolest looking color but seems to chip and scratch up easily. Hopefully the dealer does right by you.

I purchased a 2025 4Runner TRD sport premium in November. Right away I noticed an issue with the paint and pointed it out to the dealer. There were long scratches and small amounts of adhesive on it. I took it in to the dealer they buffed it for me. I wasn’t satisfied so I had a 3rd party spot buff it for me. I have just got a carwash after the long winter and I noticed chips all over the hood. Seems underground is a sensitive paint color. However now I’m worried that it will soon turn into rust spots.

Yes it is. I have noticed the quality in the paint from Toyota has decreased significantly and the dealer told me underground is a bad color to maintain.
