Hi everyone,

A warm thank you to posters who have shared their experiences to make things easier for the rest of us.

Picked it up last month and have been making a number of mods.

2025 4runner 6th gen TRD ORP Heritage Blue - 35s MT Baja Boss A/T 255/85/R17 Pizza Cutter Build +30mm Offset - Matte PPF - Aftermarket Grille IMG_2792

First change was throwing on Westcott Preload Collar Kit (2.5" front, 0.75" rear) with CKAutoFab in Manitoba.

Kevin getting down and dirty. There's no other man in Central Canada you would want working on your truck.

Then I took it to get it wrapped over at Modify.Me in MB.

Then I swapped on aftermarket TRD Pro Grille (Heritage Grill) that is optimized for TRD ORP. For those interested, it keeps the camera in the OEM position, so you do not need to extend the camera or get it recalibrated.

Looks great! Following along for that grille link when you get it, I really like the lights on the sides of the camera - did you happen to see if he offers the bronze trailhunter version?

Sorry it took forever for the seller to wake up and reply

You can email them directly and they will be able to invoice you.

There’s three different options, make sure to watch the videos Amy has and then ask for the letters, they are not included!

255/85R17 ???? You are going to reduce the width of the tire? This is never recommended to do in any case??? you may want to reconsider your choice here as it will 100% be unsafe not to mention if your in a accident you may be voided with regards to your insurance in Canada?!

Using a narrower tire than factory-recommended can lead to several issues, including reduced load capacity, potential speedometer inaccuracies, and changes to handling and ride comfort. While it might offer slight fuel efficiency gains due to reduced rolling resistance, the drawbacks often outweigh the benefits.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Reduced Load Capacity:
Narrower tires typically have a lower load-carrying capacity, meaning the vehicle might not be able to carry the same weight as specified by the manufacturer.

  • Speedometer and ABS Issues:
Changing tire size can affect your speedometer readings and potentially impact your Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and other vehicle sensors.

  • Handling and Ride Quality:
Narrower tires might offer less grip, leading to changes in handling and potentially affecting ride comfort.

  • Tread Life:
A smaller tire will rotate more times to cover the same distance as a wider tire, leading to faster wear.

  • Aesthetics:
Smaller tires can create an unappealing visual gap between the tire and wheel well, especially on stock-height vehicles.

  • Potential for Increased Wear:
Narrower tires can lead to increased wear on other vehicle components due to the altered load and rotational dynamics.
In most cases, it's recommended to stick to the manufacturer's recommended tire sizes. If you are considering a change, consult with a tire professional or your vehicle's manual for guidance. They can help you determine if a narrower tire is suitable for your specific vehicle and driving conditions, and if so, what size would be appropriate.

Hey Van thanks for your question and points. I’ll try my best to tackle them point by point.

1. The width will be reduced by half an inch and height increased by 2 inches. The real problem I might have is in the increase in scrub radius. But in terms of safety, these tires will provide better load bearing capacity than OEM falkens.

The pizza cutters are known to have better performance in snow than their wider counterparts.

2. Speedometer isn’t much of an issue, something that we will learn to adapt too

3. Narrower tires with lower psi actually offer more grip. And going through the snow in MB I think I will gain an edge. Not lose it

4. As for aesthetics, I don’t mind it at all

5. As for potential for increased wear, I’ve “offset” that as best as I could with the +30mm offset while increasing 2” in height. The narrow tires will mean I will be doing less wheel well modifications to fit 34.5” tires
