What I find incredible is that folk that think a vehicle they chose to purchase and think the vehicle is crap...but still chose to go ahead a purchase anyway. iQ slippage is what I am detecting!
What I find incredible is when somebody thinks a valid complaint or annoyance = saying the whole vehicle is crap.

Joke's on you, I'm too scared to take it through a car wash because the paint and clear coat are such cheap crap.
I will NOT hand wash my stuff, so the paint is just going to have to take it, brushes, hurricane dryer winds, and all the other no-nos.

Went right back to normal though?
Oh, there would be a thread with excellent photos and an incredible diatribe if that had happened :D

RE: "shitty skin" I think it's all cars my friend. My first project today putting on mud flaps the hardware and plastic is all crap. I'm a sailboat quality Man who like stainless steel and forget about it, not cheap plastic plugs on a $60K rig.
I work on yachts. Since you are an expert as well, you know boats equipped with 316 hardware cost considerably more than 60k

Thinner metal and more plastic == lower weight. The "skin" is not a significant part of the safety of the vehicle. I do see the hood flex (bounce up and down) a bit as I drive on occasion, but it does not bother me. I know folks have shown dents with pretty minor force, so that is not great. I think that, overall, it is adequate. Weight reduction is a good goal for many reasons.

The plastic versus metal (or whatever) is a common argument over many products. Plastic is not always worse, and is often better. I recall one such statement from someone about cameras years ago--when they started to make camera bodies from plastic (usually polycarbonate, which is a very strong plastic) where they had been made of metal (usually brass with a black coating). He said "Yeah, my old camera was made from metal--it has some small dents and the paint is worn in spots, but man it held up well and works great. My new plastic one also works great--and still looks brand new." I always liked that viewpoint (and agree). In this case the new plastic cases are better in many ways. Of note, the internal frame is still metal--often magnesium or another very lightweight metal.

Everything will have downsides, just depends on how bad and what you feel is important. I love my ORP, but of course I have some complaints. If we don't have something to (legitimately) complain about we are probably not looking closely enough!

FNG here just bought my new rig with 4K miles and saw the illuminated badge for the first time. I will build this rig slowly but first impressions great bones with shitty skin. Thankfully I have the 4 aux switches. I will probably delete and sell here this vanity logo and reroute power elsewhere. Anyone here have the same experience?

I think the illuminated badge looks cool. I wish had it on mine.

As for the shitty skin, I put a dent in my RF quarter panel on the 3rd day of ownership merely by lightly leaning/resting on it while climbing up and down an elevated platform to wax the hood. It was bad enough that no PDR guy would touch it, and ended up requiring a body ship to repair it ( took a week ).

I even almost ripped an amazon delivery driver a new one when he showed up at 5 am while I had my dog out. I told the guy to just leave the package on the ground where he was since I had my dog there and the guy ended up putting it on the hood of my TRD ORP.

It 100% does not take much to damage the panels on these vehicles and there is a reason my dealership and others offer a year of free PDR with a new vehicle purchase.

some people are just miserable with life itself, so they project a bit on their vehicles. It's quite common on this forum. I wonder what else they moan and groan about. I'm sure their family, friends, jobs, etc. those things are all perfect, it's just these shitty substandard Toyota's they bought are not. LOL. Relax all. Just some Sunday morning satire.
