Tow/tounge weight capacity clarification

Looking to better understand the towing and tounge weight capacity of the ORP non-hybrid. I understand the tow capacity is 6000lbs but looking for clarity on the allowable tounge weight. I have seen 500lb and 600lb using the 10% calculation.

We are looking to tow a camper that has a base weight of 3,852lb, a GVWR of 4,500lb, and max tounge weight of 550lb when propane and batteries are in place.

Based on this I believe it is well in the capable range of the 4Runner using a weight distribution hitch and trailer break system.

Looking for input on if this is within the specs for towing and clarity on the tounge weight limit of the 4Runner.

There's no real max tongue weight limit. The manual just says the following about weight limits for the 4R (see image attachment). For you, the limiting factor will be GVWR which you can find on the yellow sticker on the drivers side door jamb, mine is 895# for ORP gas. Your trailer is easily within all weight limits of the 4R using a WD hitch so you should have no problems. You should have sway control also which you can get with the correct hitch. Good luck.

The important thing is to keep the tongue weight as close to 10% of the trailer weight as possible--outside that will affect drivability.

Makes sense and that was the plan. Just wanted to double check I wasn’t missing something in the manual r.e. tounge weight limit/guidance.
