2025 ORP from Canada having the exact same sound, started in May this year. I got my car in Jan and I'm already around 12K km's but my wife has a Land Cruiser, and she doesn't have the sound.

I'll also be bringing it into a dealership later this month.

Same exact issue- in the city its non-stop. On the highway its gone. I'll try the towel trick today and see if it makes a difference.

attached video of the sound. Seems to sound more like a rattle on the mic, but in person it sounds more like rubber rubbing on metal/glass.

This sounds very similar to the sound I was getting. For the towel trick, make sure the towel is thick enough to put adequate pressure on the hood and make sure it's placed over the weather stripping. I had to fold the towel over itself a few times.

Also, if your noise doesn't go away on the highway/after driving 15 minutes, it's likely a different issue the towel trick won't help with.

what I'd do is yank out the headunit and try to recreate it

the open headunit hole will let you know more about where
the sound is coming from if under dash/windshield area

it is a piece of cake to remove. pop trim, turn some bolts, comes out easy

Has anyone solved this buzzing noise issue coming from the dashboard area?

This noise is driving me crazy! I can't figure it out.
Are you referring the the cicadas buzzing noise audible with the windows down when gently on throttle? I believe that's the high pressure fuel pump

I just discovered this exact noise as well, perfectly described!

Now I have 2 different noises to be annoyed by. Cowl squeaking and cicadas buzzing.

Towel on the cowl didn't work for me either after trying it in different spots in front of the driver. I had high hopes for this one, but no luck. It was quiet earlier in the day and then once the noise started it didn't stop for the rest of the day. The troubleshooting continues.
Did you ever get this figured out? Mine is doing the same thing and driving me nuts. I’ve tried securing the hood liner, tightening the clips on the firewall heat shield, zip tying the fender liners, securing the washer hose, etc. but nothing works

The noise that I am struggling with sounds more like rubber squeaking on something.

It comes and goes and I can not figure out how to replicate it. I was on a gravel road and it was quite pronunced so I thought maybe it had something to do with suspension or bushings. I rocked the 4runner in my garage and jumped up and down on the side step but could not replicate it.

It really sounds like its coming from the driver side hood area. I pushed and wiggled everything I can. Can't replicate it.

I did have the cicada noise as well but I followed the recommendations in this forum regarding the firewall heat shield. I replaced the plastic washers with some 10 mm metal threaded nuts I had and it eliminated that noise.

Sadly no, I'm still chasing it but not giving up. I don't believe it is the speaker or the screen from my testing so still leaning towards the engine bay or firewall. I tried the plastic trim along the fender under the hood, but no luck. The search continues...

Great vehicle, but really annoying that we are dealing with this when the 19 year old 4th gen is still rattle free.

Let us know if you figure it out! I’ve also done the fender liner clips, I’ve put tighter clips on the hood liner, and I even tightened up the clips on the liner for the firewall. I’m thinking it’s either in the dash, in the cowl, or something with the windshield itself.

Does your noise get better if you spray the washers? I’ve noticed that it helps on mine, which makes me think it is in the cowl or in the windshield.
