On the 2025 4Runner TRD PRO Hybrid does anyone know if this terminal in the passenger side under-hood fuse panel is connected directly to the battery? I want to connect a lead to it and run it out to the front of my grille area to connect a battery tender rather than opening the hood all of the time. My Pro sits without being driven sometimes and I'd rather keep a tender on it. This terminal has 12V to it at all times. Battery is located in the driver's side rear cargo area. I know to jump start the vehicle or connect a battery tender to it you connect to the terminal in the fuse panel under the red plastic cover identified with a +.

what does the HV manual show for under hood pics?

i thought i saw something along these lines about where you could connect jumpers to the engine bay.

Not sure what you mean by "HV" manual. But if you're refering to High Voltage I'm not posting about the High Voltage battey here. I'm posting about the vehicle 12 volt battery here. Like I mentioned in my post, to jump start the vehicle or connect a battery tender to it, you connect to the terminal in the fuse panel under the red plastic cover identified with a + sign stamped into it. You can see it in my picture. There is no way to secure a fastener to the jump start + post, or I would just use that connection post. But I want to be able to connect to a battery source in the fuse panel that I can install a battery tender wire permanently and run the wire out to the front of my vehicle to be able to plug the tender in without having to open the hood and remove the fuse panel cover all of the time.

“HV” is the owner manual for hybrid owners. If you have the Pro, that is your manual.

I am also curious about what that large terminal post is all about. Watching this thread…

Thanks for clearifying the "HV" for me. That was simple enough, just wasn't thinking, lol. Well I'm about to find out today hopefully. I don't have access to service manual information or a wiring diagram and I want to be sure before I use that terminal. I spent $72,000 for the Pro so I should be able to take a ride to my dealership and ask a technician. If he doesn't know he should be able to get into the service information and find out for me. I'm a retired high school Auto Tech teacher of 28 years and I would hope they would give me that bit of information as a professional courtesy.

I am sure you will, but please update us. As a TH owner, I'd like to make sure I know as well since the manual does not really state. I am glad I can use my jump pack on that positive terminal though just in case it is ever needed.

Did you ever get an answer to your question (about using that post in the passenger side fuse box) from a dealership technician?

I saw that you ultimately completed your installation of an external plug for a maintainer. Is it working ok and keeping the battery charged? (And by “battery” I mean the chassis 12v battery in the rear cargo area!)

No, I never made it to the dealership to talk to a technician. However, in the meantime I saw a couple of articles on different forums where people were told it was alright to use and a couple of vendors that sell winches and light bars in their instuction manuals that is where they said to connect for power. So, I connected the tender to that post and let it sit over night and my 12 volt battery was showing charge by the green LED indicator on my battery tender. So, I was good with it. I do have a 7 amp in-line fuse to the battery tender.

Thanks for the update. It is a bit disappointing that the manuals don’t do a better job of CLEARLY explaining how the complicated hybrid setup works. This really underscores the importance of forums like this!

Thanks for the clarification here and in another thread (“12v battery dead”) today regarding how the battery bank and the 12v battery work together.

I am saving that explanation!
