This seems to be an often asked question --

Here's what the SR5 2025 4Runner 6th gen's spare tire wheel looks like (mounted and unmounted).

Note that it's not a full size spare tire / wheel.

If you want to replace it with a full size tire, the largest that will fit in the 4Runner's underbody is a 33" tire -- see this thread for pics and discussion:
Largest / biggest size spare tire (diameter) that fits 33" inch tire (33's)

What is the difference in diameter between the spare tire and the other 4 tires on the SR5? Maybe post the tire sizes, please?

The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to determine if I can go 35" tires on an ORP and keep the spare at 33" to fit under the truck - obviously for emergency use only. Presumably Toyota must think it is ok to run with a smaller spare, if they package one with the SR5.

Are you able to use the back up camera or digital rear view camera with this set up?
you'd have to move the camera, or add one. the stock location is blocked

Does anyone have a picture of the OR/pro/trail hunter spare?
I’m looking at options for a full size and curious if locating a takeoff might be cheaper than sourcing a steelie and extra tire.

As long as your spare is the same diameter as the stock tires the smaller width will get the job done. I think Toyota could have done a better job of making more room under like Land Rover did with the LR3/LR4 series.
Moving to a swing gate opens up a can of worms for most people. Blocks the window, reduces parking room in a garage, harder to do basic things like load the back with anything and swings into the sidewalk. Its fix one thing break 10 others with a swing gate. Yes if you go massive off roading (most people don't) then a swing gate might be the only option (or roof)

a full size spare up to 33" does not hang down too badly but will affect departure angle a little bit. Again most people including me do not off road as much as they would like. Mostly snow for me not rock crawling.

Would like to see what the fill size 33" looks like from a person driving behind the 2026 4runner looks like. The photo here looks like the camera is low to view from under the car which is fine. But I'm wondering how well the bumper hides the spare from a view say 4 feet off the ground 20 feet behind the 4runner.

Anyone have more photos?

the compact spare is T175/90D18 111M

the SR5 stock tire is 245/70R17

difference between the two: 0.3% (they essentially match, no real issues vs stock)

ďż˝
245/70-17175/90-18
Diameter inches (mm)30.5 (774.8)30.4 (772.2)-0.1 (-2.6) -0.3%

in other words, run them all day if you want, but the goal should
be run them only enough to be able to get a replacement tire asap

I have 265's on my SR5, so the difference is >3.5%
if I need to use the spare, it goes in front or rear, no 4wd,
and under 45mph and really no driving unless to a
tire installer. it will make a lot of heat in the diff being
3.5% off
