I never gave up and went through the lemon process and Toyota identified the problem as new light weight rotors in the front.

They replaced them with heavier rotors, no charge, everything is fine now.

Toyota has a "bulletin" out on this front break squeal (in reverse). I took my vehicle to the dealer and they diagnosed the squeal, and approved the replacement of the pads, rotors and shims, under warranty.

Are your sure the TSB included new rotors?

I get the squealing in reverse 3 times a week but other times not when reversing. Its getting more frequent and louder. I park in a climate controlled garage, sometimes for a few days without driving.

Does the dealer have to replicate the problem before doing the work. I would not be thrilled about leaving the vehicle at the dealer for days.

Thank You.

I stand corrected about the rotors. However, this is what they replaced:

The dealership, where I purchased my vehicle from in Reno, had to replicate the squeal before proceeding with the warranty replacement

Does anyone have a copy of this "bulletin"? Number? Assume this is an update to T-SB-0046-25 Front Brake Squeal Noise 24Jul2025 which does not include rotors. (IIRC)

Edit: Apparently I hit send to quickly and rotors are not included... sigh.

Diatribe below:
I don't have time to hunt right now and I believe this will be helpful to virtually all of us that have the squeal and have had trouble with the dealer acting on things.
In my case I took the car in at 4240 miles for the first oil change and asked for the brake fix - I had provided the TSB number. They failed to even record my request for the brake fix and refused to do the repair under warranty until I pushed back - then Service Advisor called back to say Service Manager has OKed the fix under warranty but they don't have the parts and would let me know when they come in. Of course I hear from the dealer about maintenance all the time but have never heard back about parts being in. I've decided that all my interactions with them will be in writing because they screw up the verbal interactions every time. Anyway.... the old TSB did not include rotors and if there is a new one that does I'd like to get a copy and include in my written request for service when I take it in for 15 + 20K service. I want my second free oil change (20K) and all the inspections that are included in the 15K service. (will be oil change 4 at about 16K miles.)
